For all the talk of a playoff...

  • And I favor a playoff system...doesn't it appear that over recent history, the best team wins the championship more often than not, and CERTAINLY wins it more often than in other sports?
*** I think we had the best team this past year (hard for LSU to argue after such an A$$ whipping, and while many people thought OSU "deserved" the shot over us, most objective people would tell you that Bama was clearly a better team than OSU
***In 2010, while most of us think they bought it, based on what you saw on the field, undefeated SEC champ Auburn beat undefeated PAC 10 champ, and was probably the best team
    ***2009 doesn't need discussion...
***2008 Florida was clearly the best team after beating Oklahoma

Meanwhile, look at the other sports...I think UK was the best NCAA hoops team, and they won it. But hte Cardinals weren't the best team in MLB, and the Giants probably weren't the best team in the NFL.

All this to say that while most of us want a playoff because it would seem more fair, the current system works out more often than not in terms of getting the right champion...

  • The is no perfect system to determine a Champion (Best Team). I like the BCS because it is the most interesting system.

IMO, the next best option would be a true +1. That is, move all the bowls back to Jan 1 or earlier, play those games, then run the BCS formula and play the top 2 teams.

The only thing I keep thinking about is 2009. We play a perfect season, Beat an Undefeated number 1 UF, Then play the undefeated Big 12 Champ. Texas...what else needs to be done? Play Boise or TCU? I don't think that would be necessary..

  • I've never understood this urgency to go to a playoff. I think college football is pretty awesome the way it is. The BCS is far from perfect but as we're seeing now, every playoff format has its own set of issues and drawbacks.

Oh well the playoff is coming I might as well get used to it. I'll still love the game either way.

  • I believe eventually the Conference Commissioners will pass a playoff plan that prohibits alabama from participating, realizing that's the only way to keep us out.

Lebron James will never be as good as Michael Jordan, thus we should get rid of his nickname, "The King".
