Former player Jimmy Johns update

I'm a former Brookhaven, MS native and followed Jimmy Johns through high school and with the tide. It looks like he's the new QB for the semi-pro team in the area. Below is a link to a story a news station did on him last night.

Ya know, I'm glad to hear he's trying to turn his life around....and not to hijack the thread, but how in the hell can any decent journalist refer to BECOMING A DRUG DEALER as "getting off track"?? Just sayin...

Very Commendable he came out of such a dark place. It seems like he's really pulled it together and learned and is trying to mentor others. Not to say that erases what he did, but it's a blessing he takes accountability for that and is active in preventing others from going there.

Anyone can turn their life around, especially if they invest their life with God. There is a famous preacher who changed thousands upon thousands of lives, that was a former prisoner on death row for murder.

Johns, who went from the childhood dream of "Alabama football player" to the adult nightmare of "convicted felon/cocaine dealer"...
How's that? Don't misunderstand...I'm glad to hear he's trying to straighten himself out and become a decent and productive citizen...I just think that kid's who fail a few classes and get declared ineligible have "gotten off track." This guy had it all and yet decided to deal cocaine at my alma mater, so I think that deserves a little stronger statement than "got off track."
