    We won 10 games in 2010.

    And lost three games to less talented teams.

    Besides losing alot of players of defense the following year there still seemed to be an issue with entitlement with the team. Maybe less access with tv media? I'm more concerned with attitudes of players. I'm sure CNS learned from the '10 season, and will keep players more focused.

    I can agree with certain aspects of this, such as the entitlement piece, which was attitude. However, the week of the S.C. game CNS sensed that this team was not focused in the right way, didn't have the right leadership, or right chemistry, everyone focused as one, or what ever. Something was missing, he knew it, but in reality what could he do about it. We got blown out at S.C. I'm not so sure CNS could have done much more to wake the players up to the realities of losing if they didn't get their act together so to speak. It wasn't so much what CNS learned from 10', he knew it was coming the week of the S.C. game and it wasn't until the MSU bowl game where the team finally got going as one focused unit.

    Some things I am happy about with this next season;
    1. No ESPN Training Days.
    2. Concur with learning from the 10' mental let down, sense of entitlement aspect.
    3. A chance to make up for 10', repeat, and "Finish" this time.
    4. AJ wanting more than anything to win another title as a BAMA QB.
    5. Experienced players from the two BCSNCGs, and the 10' let down year.
    6. Loads of talent and depth like never before.

    Just a small run down of some things that come to mind for this year. Exciting times. RTR

  • I think this team will handle coming off a national championship better than the team two years ago. Everybody was patting the returning players from the 2009 team on the back because it had been so long since we won a championship, that we really didn't know how to handle that sort of success. Now, we are used to being a dominant program again. We have won 2 championships in 3 years, have signed #1 recruiting classes 4 out of 5 years, and have been ranked #1 at some point in the season for 4 straight years. As long as we keep success from going to our heads, we will be fine.

    The key is for leaders to emerge from the 2012 team. Guys like AJ, B. Jones, Nico, Lester, etc have to take on that leadership role all off-season and through the 2012 season.

    The 2010 season was a slight disappointment but it says a lot about where we are as a program that a 10 win season is below our standards. We won't win every game or win the championship every year but we will contend for SEC and national championships every year.

  • Another thing nobody is mentioning is the injury bug. We had some really crucial players either go down with injuries or not play at near 100% that whole season. That hurt us down the stretch for sure, but also was a factor late in games. If we can stay healthy and have some leadership come forward, I think we can do well. Not saying we can win it all, but there's a big difference in a 10-3 season and the Capital One bowl and an 11-1 season with a BCS bowl win.

  • Another thing everyone is forgetting from 2010 is that we played 6 teams in a row coming off bye-weeks, and I believe 8 total on the season. That made the schedule very tough. We still should have beaten LSU and Auburn though.

    This. If Barrett Jones, Mark Ingram, Julio Jones, Anthony Steen, Trent Richardson, Dequan Menzie, Mark Barron, and Greg McElroy never got hurt during the season, would it have improved our 2010 record? I believe so. Would it have resulted in another national championship? Probably not, leadership wasn't there, but we would've curb-stomped Auburn in 2010 if everyone was healthy.

    And you could throw Donte' Hightower in that mix, he was recovering from an injury in 2009 and wasn't full speed until the Cap1 Bowl.
