Georgia plays 2 Triple Option teams in a row heading into SECCG

  • Does this hurt or help them? Chop/Cut Block City heading into a game with National Title implications. You would think their front 7 would be worn out by the time the SECCG rolls around. It could very well play in our favor. It also could allow them to start preparing for Alabama a week early since they've already practiced to defend against the triple option. Thoughts?

If they aren't preparing for Paul Johnson's offense, GT will put up 40+ on them.

I think playing Georgia Southern as a warmup for GT is very smart. I guess it could hurt them with Bama prep though.

All of their focus will have to be on GT or they won't be prepared for that option. Plus it's more of a technique offense as opposed to Bama's power. They won't be prepared for that.

  • Couple of things. Normally I would say advantage Georgia because they could devote half of their time on Ga Tech and look ahead to Bama being that the SEC Championship would be way more important. BUT. Now they are ranked #3 so a loss to Ga Tech would be devastating. They want to have a chance for the NC. But on the other hand, its not like they don't play Ga Tech every year and practice against the option in the off season and at least one week during the season every year to prepare for Ga Tech. They very well could have practiced for Ga Tech last week before the Georgia Southern Game and spend this week on Bama. Its advantage Georgia I think. Because they are playing basically the same team two straight weeks.

Of course we could have looked at Auburn some during practice last week.

  • Might give them a little more time to work on us this week but I doubt it.im guessing our scout team runs a good bit of UGA this week.

+1 for this. Just as we would expect Saban to prepare our team, first things first, And Georgia Tech comes first. A loss to Georgia Tech would be more crippling to their offseason than a loss to us.
