Good for Kirby

  • Regardless of what any of you think, it's just a job to these guys. Kirby Smart has no loyalty to Alabama, just like Pat Dye had no loyalty to Alabama in 1981. It's a huge paycheck, and it's a paycheck in the best conference in college football. Period.

If the main competitor of the company you work for came calling with its top position, all of your holier-than-thou attitudes would vanish in an instant. Give Kirby some credit for what he's helped us to achieve in the last six years and wish him well if he goes to Auburn. We'll be just fine.

I will not fault Kirby one second for taking the Auburn job. And I hope he fails miserably.

    Great post! I agree 100%.

  • I would like to think as good as Kirby Smart is he would have more than just the Auburn offer. Seems to me that would be a last resort option. Just my opinion.

I am going to avoid calling you names so I will just ask, would you really want Auburns head coach running our defense in a NC game?

If he accepts the position I won't blame him for it, but Id want him on the first available mode of transportation out of Tuscaloosa.

  • Good for Kirby if he goes to Auburn. First, I would be shocked if it happened. Secondly, if it does occurr and Kirby goes to the dark side. I will hate the boogers more than ever. I will respect Kirby but I will continue to hope for the demise of Auburn. They are cheaters and I will go to my grave believing they paid for Cam.

  • Agree 100%, another Bama National Championship will not be good for AU at all. If KS took a job there he would need to go fast.

  • I think CKS will be able to get a great HC job but IMO he would be a fool to to take the barn job. Not only would he have to lock horns with his mentor on a daily basis, he will probably end up tainted by the barn's corruption. Lot of other great jobs out there for CKS IMO.

That said I agree w/ the OP. If the barn paid me millions I'd coach em too...............and do a better job than Jim Chiznick.

  • I realize its a business but I really wish he would go somewhere that's not Auburn. I knew he would take a head coaching job eventually but I was hoping he would go somewhere where I could pull for him to succeed. If he goes to AU, I'll dislike him just like any other past AU coach.

I would hope that Kirby would also weigh the option that Auburn might be hit with significant sanctions and, at best, will be losing players to Academic attrition (if there is truth to the lack of class attendance discussed in the al.com article). Auburn is a good job, after some other EXPERIENCED coach comes in to rebuild it and set the Athletic Department straight. It is not a good HC career starter right now. This is without Crimson Colored Glasses, but certainly Saban has to be couseling Smart on this.
