It sucks but good for the players to stand up for themselves. Does anyone else think it a bit hypocritical the NFL loves safety so much yet it wants to add 2 more games? The projections panned out to show the "lifespan" of a players career would now be less than 3 years. I say good for the players and I hope this is a battle they win.

I don't think the rookie cap is a point of contention. I think they even have an agreement in principle on that.

The current players care a great deal about that. How would you like to be Larry Fitzgerald, all world WR, and a college kid walk in and make more and have more guaranteed than you? The NFL is creating it's salary problems UNLESS it enacts a rookie cap and several players have said there needs to be a cap in place because it's hard to get out of last place with an unknown rookie eating up your salary. The NFLPA was all for the cap based off the discussions and player interviews lately and in the past.

Just another piece of evidence that proves college football is the greatest sport on the planet.

Depends on which players. The vast majority of them aren't making multi-millions and aren't overly concerned about it. Some players do really care.

Basically, what I should have said is that the rookie wage scale isn't half as big of a deal in the negotiation as ESPN and NFL Network make it out to be. Both sides wanted it for somewhat different reasons.

I really hope both sides work everything out. Sundays in the fall would suck without the NFL.
