Grant's latest action commendable, but...

What dirt are you talking about? So you're now saying Gottfried was covering up dirt? I am confused by this statement. Also Gottfried was many things, but he ran one of the cleaniest programs in the SEC

You sure about that? Because I personally know of three former players, two of which were some of the best during his tenure, who have given accounts that would contradict that statement.

  • Then air your grievances, and I know lots of former players that attack former coaches. If you are going to call someone dirty, either prove it and back it up or leave it alone.

you can't "Control" 17-22 year olds.

    Do you have any teenagers???

As a matter of fact I do. I have a 17 year old and I work at a high school every day. I am more than qualified to comment on the subject. If Grant can't get his players to tow the line, it's not just a player problem.

Travis, I didn't see you giving your opinion when Gottfried had several Teams that was not discipline and doing all his dirt. So save me this crap about suspending four is something you do in your first year.

My opinion of Gottfried's teams earned me an interview boycott (albeit, brief) from CMG back around 2005, but you're right. I think the question is legit: Why are certain players still an issue in year three? Not bashing Grant, but the buy-in apparently never took for at least one player.

First off, I am not going to post specifics about anything in a public forum that could hurt our school/program. So, you can choose to believe me or not. It really doesn't make a huge difference to me, because I know who I got the information from. And it had nothing to do with any player attacking him. None of the former players I knew said anything bad personally about Gottfried. I'm sure you are smart enough to figure out what I am talking about at this point, so I will leave it at that.

  • Ivory,

There is no such thing as squeaky clean in college basketball. That's the deal.

  • No but don't call someone dirty and not provide proof. At Alabama we hate guys like Clay Travis and Sports by Brooks who do this to Alabama, and we call them out. My point is this, no one is clean in the SEC in football and basketball, but if you want to call someone dirty then come out and prove it. Otherwise leave it alone, otherwise you act like Clay Travis and SportsbyBrooks who have vendetta's against programs and put stuff out there in hopes of having any of it stick.

I don't think that Fogtown, who is clearly an Alabama fan, has a vendetta against the Alabama program.

I don't think he does either but once again if you want to call a coach dirty then provide proof. Otherwise don't bring it up.

...what point will suspensions become a non-story for the program? This is first-year-of-tenure stuff, not February of third year. Specifically, how many chances should a player get? I don't know, but I do know the other players are watching.

Well said, Travis. If Mitchell and Green were cancers then they should have been gone during year one. This season, since the Puerto Rico tournament, has been surreal. No reason for a team to be down 3 starters and 1 key backup midway through your conference schedule due to discipline issues.

  • Youngsters showed well in Baton Rouge but questions about the "Feb. 4" will dominate post-game and into next week.

Thanks TR.. Coop looked great tonight, but Engstrom, Moussa and Jacobs have a long way to go defensively to help us out.

Yeah, not a good matchup for any of the bigs tonight but I thought Engstrom and Jacobs hung in as best they could. Hamilton is pretty skilled for a footer. Looking forward to seeing Gueye when he's 14 months removed from his ACL.

  • Me too also I want to see more out of Lacey. He is horrible when coming off screens as he keeps his dribble to high and never get's seperation on those screens. I am still waiting to see the players that Randolph and Lacey were in HS. Tonight we all saw the Coop that was in HS, all it took was some confidence in his shot.
