Gundy Quotes Summarized

  • With the way Stanford pounded the ball again OSU, We would destroy them!

“We’d have thrown it 50 times,” he said. “You like to think Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon could have put together some touchdowns. Get the ball thrown down the field and open some things up. Try to make it exciting, and see what happens.”

“You sure would like to have had a shot at it,” Gundy said.

“It kind of hurts to watch it. I just think we could score. We’d use all 52 yards across (the width of) the field. Get people on the edges. Use the vertical game.”

“For the most part in the last couple of years, we’ve been able to move the ball and score points against about anybody we played. … It’s been talked about all year from coast to coast: Big 12 offenses, SEC defenses, how do we really know if anybody’s really any good? That (a showdown in the BCS title game) would have been the best way to find out.”

“I will say this,” Mike Gundy said as Alabama closed in on Monday night’s 21-0 win against LSU. “I bet you there’ll be a lot of people wish they’d given us a shot to see a different kind of game.”

    Barret Jones Response:
“I could play them right now,” Tide offensive tackle Barrett Jones said after the win Monday night. “You don’t think we hear that talk? Line up, let’s go.”

It's easy to talk smack when you're not getting to play us. LSU did (I could see them on the field) , and see what happend to them.

  • Why does anyone think the score would be any different than when both LSU and Bama played Arkansas? Hell, at least Arkansas didn't lose to Iowa State. The arguement makes no sense? Arkansas can play offense with anyone, but somehow if we played Oklahoma State it would be a different game? Yeah, ok.

  • Here is one thing I know. Many consider Oklahoma's offense of 2008 to be one of the best ever, especially in that conference. Nobody is giving this year's OSU offense the edge over that offense. Florida's defense shut OU down that year. Think anybody is calling that Florida defense as being better than this Alabama defense?

  • Let me tell you guys something, Saban would wipe the field with Gundy's intestines. Gundy's so stupid he doesn't even realize that what he said about how they would attack us, falls right into Saban's defensive mindset.

How many of us have heard Saban say we're gonna try to make them one dimensional, then play nickle. Heck, Gundy's so stupid he doesn't he realized by throwing it 50 times he's making his own team one dimensional.

Saban would have played nickle or dime all night, our DL would've had a field day putting pressure on an immobile Weeden, and just for giggles and to keep their pass protection guessing we would've ran an occasional, complicated blitz.

You want to talk about a team being tailor-made for an a$$ whipping, Oklahoma State is to us what Gerry Cooney was to Larry Holmes. And their butts would quit a lot sooner than Cooney did, or LSU for that matter.

Bama would trounce Okie St, and both LSU and Arky would probably send them home crying too. Gundy seems to forget - if he ever knew - that defense and special teams also have a role in football. I'm sick of hearing them gripe and complain. If they want more respect, earn it. Schedule out of conference games against the big boys from each region, travel around the country, recruit a few 5 star athletes - thats how the SEC did it.

  • The only reason that they didn't lose to Stanford was because instead of letting Luck take the ball down and score they ran the clock down and missed the kick.

Does he not remember the Big12 offense against the SEC defense when Texas came calling? Been there done that... And Texas had a top ranked defense that year... what would have happened with their crappy D at OSU??? not even close
