Golf? You people crack me up...
I've played football, baseball, hockey, love playing basketball and golf, even ran a marathon and a few triathalons. In my opinion, surfing is the toughest. It's by far the most fun sport I've done, yet, not only are you having fun riding waves, but you are also trying not to drown! The rewards of getting barreled at Sunset Beach on Oahu or riding the perfect waves of Honolua Bay on Maui is worth the sore muscles, getting pounded on a wipeout, the occasional reef cuts and even a few shark sightings...stuff ya don't get when playing golf!

Boxing has to be up there
Alright y'all, lets just get something straight. Most of these sports y'all have listed are definitely tough. but none are as tough as MMA, and I would probably say not really even close.
So in another sport like Gymnastics you have to be accurate with your bodily position to within a quarter of an inch? Well in MMA if you don't know where your body is at all times, AND the opponents body then you don't just lose the competition(Like in Gymnastics) you are probably going to be put into a submission. Which can BREAK bones, and an array of other important part of the body.
I will not even mention the training part of it as others have done before me for the general sense of what those dudes have to go through.
In NO other sport does a guy win by doing one of the following three things:
Knocking you out, submitting you, or beating you up worse than you beat him(Technically, although sometimes one guy make look worse and win).
These guys don't just lose a competition if they aren't careful, they can have their teeth kneed/kicked in, their arms broken, and most have stitches in some shape or form every time they fight.
Like I said, some of these sports are really tough, but none are more difficult than MMA.
Lebron James is easily the best basketball player in the league currently...
