Derrick Green has visited a number of schools over the past several months but this weekend’s first-ever trip to Auburn turned into something special for the 4-star running back from Hermitage in Richmond, Va.

“My mom loved it. She said she got a feeling that she hasn’t gotten at any other school, and I did as well,” Green said. “She loved sitting down and speaking with Coach (Gene) Chizik. She just said he was a real coach and looking into his eyes you can tell he loves his players. She had a real good time.”

Green’s previous visits include Alabama, Tennessee, Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State, Clemson, North Carolina and Pittsburgh. He’s already planning a return trip to Auburn for the LSU game on Sept. 22 and also an official visit.

Green said Auburn is the only one of the more than 30 schools that have offered him a scholarship that he knows he will return for an official visit.
