Heisman Trophy eludes Richardson

Despite Trent Richardson finishing with an explanation point, voters were more impressed with Robert Griffin III and presented him with Baylor’s first Heisman Trophy.

  • Will have to say RGIII has impressed me with his character but the socks was the true decision maker.

  • Not surprised Griffin won, but really surprised Trent didn't even carry the South region (which doesn't include Texas).

  • Tweet from Brad Edwards: Griffin would've won by a larger margin if 20% of votes hadn't been cast before Dec. 3. RG3 dominated the final 80%.

  • Wow TR wouldnt even have won if we had beaten LSU. Kinda funny as well that no one ever really mentions our offense in the same regards as the best in the country and some make fun of it yet we win two major awards on that side of the ball and our defense is the best in the country and all anyone talks about and we draw a blank in awards.

Team awards trump individual ones. The crystal ball will do just fine.

  • This vote just shows the dislike for Bama and the SEC, but more so Bama. TR would have shattered all rushing records in that wanna be conference!!! I know TR is not a selfish guy, but I hope he and the team comes out angry as hell when they play LSU and crush them. Its the Tide agsinst the World. Face it, many in the media are tired of CNS and our domination. Its like the New York Yankees, either you like them or you dont. We are like the empire in Star Wars, Its time for us to strike back at everyone on Jan 9th. I know Barron and Hightower have to be pissed also. Sorry for the rant, RTR.

Its kind of amazing that MI won isnt it. And it was as close as could be. People definately arent down with giving Bama more trophies than they have to. Its the only way to explain all those years without winning one. I wouldnt be suprised if its 50 years before we win another one. People arent going to give it to us again if its debateable and we dont play the style of football that racks up the stats on either side of the ball. Lord help we ever have a player with 160 tackles in one year because our record would be like 4-8. Blowing out every team doesnt help either. It makes it look to easy. And hopefully we never have Monte Ball type numbers. If we do were barely winning games and we only have one rb worth a crap. That doesnt equal NC. And we will never have a QB that gets wr's to throw too that are always as open as RGIII's....that would never happen in our league. I mean good lord Case Keenum couldnt even handle USM.

Im fine playing for national titles. If we get the individual awards great, but meh otherwise. Well really its only meh with me with the Heisman because its such a dog and pony show. The other ones are legit and mean a lot to me. They have a genuine feel to them. Maybe its because they arent hyped as much and politics arent involved and arent agenda driven. But grats to whoever wins the individual awards. Other teams have to fill the trophy case someway.

  • A fella just heard me discussing the heisman and he thought I said trent had won and I said no rg3 did. He said isn't he in D II? Lol, I said something like that.

  • I will have to say the margin of votes which separated TRENT from both Luck and RGIII was a shock. I thought it would be a little close, but wow that was a landslide. Seemed a little out of balance to say the least. However, at the end of the day I am super proud of TRENT and BAMA. Proud he was on the stage last night, proud of his humble nature with his stage presence, and proud of his overall performance on and off the field. RTR

  • Key points everyone seems to miss. The defensive rankings of the teams they actually play.

RG3′s Competition: AVG (Points given up) Defensive ranking 71
TR Competition: AVG (Points given up) Defensive ranking 42
AL Competition: AVG (Points given up) Defensive ranking 79

RG3 played agaist 2, that right 2 teams defenses that were ranked better than what TR’s average was. AL played against 1 better than TR’s average. Can you say no comparison. A good QB could put up great numbers against that kind of competition. Hense when they lost, they lost against a pretty pathetic defense too.

Too bad voters aren’t smart enough to figure these things out before they vote…..

  • Darth TIder, I have to agree with you. That had to be the case here. But we know what TR would have done in the Little 12. I also hope they come out totally ticked and just punish LS WHO. Trent is a great running back. Too many people are just upset we get a rematch so they take it out on Trent. Yes RG is a good Quarterback, But they did lose three times and he lost those with interceptions. So we just have to keep loving and supporting our Team. Roll Proud Tide Roll
