Not sure if its ever been mentioned. Did you know that AUB has had back to back double digit winning seasons just once in their entire meaningless history? They had 10 wins in '88 and 10 wins in '89. So, just for safety purposes I checked ours and we've done it twice ('61-'62) and ('91-'92). Ha ha ha...PLUS two different times we had 4 years in a row ('77, '78, '79, and '80) and the current run still going (2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011) and another run that went FIVE years in a row ('71, '72, '73, '74, and '75). Just from a total of double digit winning seasons...The score is: Bama-31 AU-12 Nothing brought me more pleasure than to stumble across the knowledge this morning they've only had back to back 10 win seasons only ONCE....EVER! Now I know why they loved Dye so much, the only time they accomplished this feat was under his watchful and money giving eye. Lmao, silly barners.

But but, but ...they tell us they are elite. They are just like the OU's Texas, ND (of the past of course), Miami's of old, FSU of the 80's and 90's, you know, the real Elite programs throughout history. That's what they tell us.
You know, look around the landscape of sports. Most fan bases who has a team that has a good year every now and then, and then some average years (the typical year) and then some very very below average years - those fans constantly complain about their team. They always find the negative in things because the negative overpowers the positive in most all occasions. They are always wanting someone fired, someone hired, this person gone and this person brought in. I only know of 1 fan base that no matter the TRUE outcome, no matter REALITY....they still somehow see an elite team. A team ready to beat everyone they face. I find only 1 fan base that somehow every off season they speak as if they are ready to truly contend with the big boys of their sport. I have to say it is amazing after all these years they still can completely miss the truth and if told this they really think the ones saying it are the ones who can't see reality.
Then the season starts (most years) reality slaps them square between the eyes and then right up the behind....they realize it for a moment....only to immediately somehow once again go right back into sunshine we are elite again mode. I know of no other fan base that as a whole can do this. LOL, we would be screaming for people to be fired. Heck, we scream for that even when we win 10 games a year sometimes (g)

One of the most amazing stats to me is that the Cow College has only played, not won, in 9 major bowl games in their illustrious history. That includes the Cotton Bowl before the Fiesta replaced it as a major bowl. I believe our total is 31 or 32 major bowls to include the BCS CGs.

That's an amazing difference. One you will never hear from their side. Like someone else said, they like to only look at history as the years we were on our awful sanctions not to mention a string of poor choices the University made. Hey it counts, no doubt about it - but so does ALL the other years. . I have always said if not for the SEC Conference - AU would not be seen even as they are now by the outside world. Put them in any other conference and they become exactly what they always have been - Average. Average means having a once in a lifetime year every so often, a bunch of average - typical years, and mix in several well below average years. That is exactly AU football.

Here are some more stats everyone will love. Under Saban the last five years, Alabama has lost by a total of only 82 points. Over five years, if you add up all of our losses, it amounts to 82 points. On the other hand of you do the same for auburn over a three year time frame, you get 200 points.
Over the last five years, Alabama has only lost by 10 or more points 3 times and has never lost by more than 14 under Saban. Additionally, Alabama has beaten everyone in the SEC, with the exception of South Carolina, by more than 20 under Coach Saban. Some of our SEC opponents have gotten the 20 point of more business from us more than once!!
On the other hand, auburn is a completely different story. Over the last three years under Chizik, auburn has lost 10 games. Six of those ten were absolute blowouts meaning they were by more than 21 points. In 2011, auburn lost by more points total in three games than Alabama has lost by in the FIVE years under Saban. Additionally, both Arkansas and LSU have beaten auburn by 21 or more points 2 out of the 3 times a Chizik led auburn team has faced them. Over the last few years, they have been blown out by UGA, Alabama, Arkansas twice and LSU twice. Wow, they suck.
Two programs headed in two completely different directions.
