Good notes and I don't think the punting criticism is nitpicky. We have a smart offense that is conservative and plays the field position battle. We are running screens, quick slants, and draws on third and long just about every time we were on our side of the 50. I don’t have a problem with the philosophy at all but if we could boot the ball then it would deadly. If we could punt the ball 45 yards and make teams drive 70/80 yards to score on our defense, then it is going to be a very very long season for opposing offenses.

Punting coverage helped? He was hitting the ball sky high with 5 second hang times..I agree 31 yard punts are not good even with hang time, but that makes punting coverage pretty easy...just saying

High hang time definitely helps with punt coverage. Does it make it pretty easy? Definitely not, child please.
I would take less hang time and inside the 20, every time.... just saying

Saying that White's future appears uncertain is a bit over-dramatic. He's a true freshman, and Saban chose to go with experience rather than youth in a hostile environment. The only thing that is indicated here is that White will gain his experience before he becomes a go-to receiver in a big game.

Agreed. He's young and has plenty of time.
