How to explain BOL to the Mrs...

    Gents, I know that like me, many of you have dealt with the Mrs commenting on how often you jump on here to catch up on hte latest commit, latest potential commit, or to advise everybody of something stupid a barner co-worler said/did....here's how to make them understand: "Honey, it's like Facebook is for women." That will pretty much do it I've found.

  • Please don't forget there are plenty of Bama ladies who prefer checking on recruits, stupid Barners, etc...rather than Face book.

    I pride myseld in being able to keep up with any Bama fan, male or female, with the latest on recruiting and Alabama news in general. Roll Tide!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My Mrs. is ready to divorce me over BOL!!! She says she just can't understand what is so important on it that I am constantly on it. I tried to explain to her why and she just said "So keeping up with Alabama football and a bunch of high school kids is that important to you". I replied with, "well, i haven't really thought about it that way, but YES!!!" then she says "what if I made you chose between Bama football and me". I said "I sure would miss you!!!" So, I spent the rest of the day convincing her it was a joke.....not really lol

    Thanks, but no apology necessary!! Just a reminder how much we females love Alabama football.

    Now, if I could only figure out a way to block out the VERY OFFENSIVE pics that some guys post, and still be able to read the quotes, I would have it made... There are many males that forget, or don't care, that the BOL/Bama Nation also consists of females and children....

    However, there are also many guys that are respectful and appreciative that the Bama ladies are so knowledgeable!! My husband for one!! He is THE BEST. We talk a little football everyday, and have a great football season with our friends with Fabulous Football Parties. We are already planning the kick-off game with Michigan. Can't wait....

  • I did have one relationship fall apart due to Bama football/BOL but I thank BOL for speeding up the inevitable there... My fiance doesn't know anything about American football (other than what I've taught her) and she is 100% supportive and would never question my BOL addiction. Keeper.

    This. First thing I do while logging in for work in the morning is pull BOL up. I would much rather spend my time on here than FB. I too pride myself on being able to hang with any male or female when it comes to Alabama football. I love sports in general, but being the product of an Alabama grad, Alabama is my addiction.

  • She's probably never going to understand it, just like you'll never understand why she likes some of the dumb crap she likes. Different people are just wired differently. The sooner she realizes that the better it will be for both of you.

    Example: my wife is really into those singing shows, American Idol etc. I wouldn't watch that crap if you paid me. But millions of people love em so while I don't get it at all, I say knock yourself out if that's your thing. *shrug*

  • My new bride (May 5th wedding) grew up mostly here in MI, but her mom was raised in New Orleans and her entire family still lives there and are die-hard LSU/Saints fans. So when we were dating in 2008, I made it clear that my love and obsession with cfb, and Bama specifically, was a way of life in my family growing up in Mobile, and was with with my children as they grew up. Even my young grandkids today are immersed in Roll Tide passion. So my wife, girlfriend at the time, watched the entire 2008 season with me as her introduction to Bama fb, and now is a die-hard Bama lady (who also has a crush on CNS as most do). We've been to T-town together and she now has a great appreciation and understanding of UA's football legacy, traditions and glory. She even sets her mom and her family straight if their corndog comments try to tarnish the greatness of The Tide. It's like I always say about Bama fb, "Once you know the truth, it will set you free."

    Actually, I have been clicking the "ignore user" button, which blocks the quote...I have now turned off the sigs! Thanks....
