Something interesting I heard from a former coach about CNS and this staffs ability to recruit was the way in which CNS evaluated each players abilty based off their desire to compete. He said CNS was most gifted at spotting how a guy was really motivated and then meshing the different motivational types together. He thinks CNS goes with a lot of have to win guys because thats what he is...a guy that has to win to feel successful. He also looks for whether each player is driven by their individual success pushing them or if they are more interested in sucess coming from a team aspect. He said he will take on a guy who is interested in individual success if he plays certain positions. He said CNS is spot on with picking out the characteristics of each recruit. CNS has a way of talking to the kids to see what motivates them but has learned a few key words and answers to quite a few questions that let him know where the motivation comes from, and body language is instrumental in all of this. They also do a lot more fact finding behind the scenes when it comes to those involved with the recruit...moreso than their athletic ability. He said CNS was on the cutting edge of this and it has just came along during his time at Bama. He pretty much said most coaches only speak of having high character and desire but CNS lives it. He said without question you can't be an "I wish to win" guy and even get on campus at Bama. Then he laughed and said those guys are going to Clemson, UGA, FSU and Auburn. He didn't mention UT.
