I really like our QB

  • I'm supposed to be working on a huge paper that's due Friday, but I've spent the better part of the evening going back and watching games from this season on my DVR and I'm finding myself getting more and more pumped about how good AJ could be for us this coming season. If we have one or two receivers really step up this year, we could lead the SEC in offensive production when combined with the offensive line we should field and the talent we have at RB. The growth AJ showed after the first LSU game especially really impresses me. I remember him saying something in an interview after the NC game that after the LSU loss Saban told him to go back to being himself and playing with emotion. Whatever it was, it worked. If he can continue to develop as a leader and pick up on the new tweaks of our new OC's way of doing things, we could have the best QB at the Capstone we've seen in a really long time. I'm sure I'm preaching to choir here, but I'm much more excited about this coming season than I was after our NC in 09 going into 10. I don't expect as much of a drop-off on defense as we had in 2010, and our offense should be much better than it was in 2010. I'm usually a very objective and realistic person, but I'm really starting to think we have a great chance of repeating if we can stay even relatively healthy. This must be what my dad felt like growing up in the 60s and 70s watching Coach Bryant's teams.

  • crimsonchad I agree with you. I have always thought the biggest problem in 2010 was the offense wasn't good enough to take pressure off the defense & the defense was good enough to win the SEC. I know the defense made mistakes but it was a good defense just not great. This year the offense should be the best we have seen in many years & the defense should be much better than 2010. I also think AJ will be in New York for the Heisman in December & Eddie will have a very big year & one of the best ever for an Alabama RB as long as he doesn't get hurt. bol14

  • I remember the stupendous Tide offenses of the 70's, when we averaged in the 40s. Times change, offenses evolve, but
    friends, I think we may see the most prolific and explosive offense we have had since then or when Homer Smith was here
    in 1989 with Gary Hollingsworth at the controls. AJ has the makings of a great QB and as crimsonchad pointed out, he
    needs some WR to step up and make this O fly. But if so, watch out and with that, we may be bringing #15 home much
    sooner than expected. RTR!

  • If AJ can play with the same confidence he displayed in the NC game, he is going to have a big year. I don't see any reason why he won't, either. He knows the offense...which shouldn't change too much under Coach Nuss....and he made several very, very good throws in that game.

    In fact, if you look at his performance in the GSU, AU and NC games, he played lights out. I'm excited to see what he can do and which receivers will step up to be big time players. Next season should be fun to watch.

    That 1989 Offense was special, remember Lamonde Russell?

    I'm hoping that AJ can continue to grow into the position, he did great within the framework of what he was asked to do. That framework will likely continue to open up as he continues to display maturity and ability. The sky is the limit.
