Seems like a nice guy, but MAN he got on my nerves, because in every press conference he would try to antagonize Saban into blowing up at him by asking stupid questions then he would post on his blog how clever he was for outwitting Saban.

He was the reason I hated listening to Coach Saban's press conferences. He would always address Coach as "Nick", and then he'd follow that up with a question that sounded like he drew it out of a hat full of questions asked by my wife's 3rd grade class.

not a fan either......saban should have done what spurrier did to that reporter in SC....not a fan...RTR

I think Saban actually liked going back and forth with him.
As far as him calling him Nick, I never understood why that got on so many people's nerves. Saban was not Ian's coach, and Ian was not a fan of the team. He was doing a job. Why does nobody care that Chris Fowler and Tom Rinaldi refer to coach as Nick but have a problem with a beat reporter doing the same thing?

THIS. Ian was/is a great reporter. The quality of the Alabama beat has gone down DRASTICALLY since he and Gentry moved on, imo. (by newspaper outlets that is)
At first Ian annoyed me, but he was always blogging and producing interesting articles. I'm not surprised to see him doing so well in the industry.

Agree. Ian aside, he's not our coach and he's not the coach of the press. Webcam call him whatever the hell we want
