If Coach Saban stays at Alabama another ten years...

  • If Coach Saban stays another ten years, he may be able to match something Coach Bryant was able to accomplish. That is, win Championships and dominate College Football in two distinctly different eras.

Coach Bryant won when the rules did not allow for liberal substitutions, the starters basically played Offence, Defense, and Special Teams. Coach Bryant also won when the rules were changed to allow an Offensive Unit, Defensive Unit, and separate Special Teams. This is just one of the reasons why Coach Bryant is so revered.

Coach Saban has won and dominated during the BSC era and will have the opportunity to win in whatever the next era will be called.

  • Good points. Coach Bryant coached in an era with little or no restrictions on the number of scholar athletes and length of football practice time. In Coach Saban's time there are, of course, severe restrictions on both. Alabama has been truly blessed to have these 2 giants in the coaching field.

  • I predict CNS will excell in both.

  • Can you imagine the teams Saban would field if there were no scholarship limits? Bryant used to give kids scholarships just so another school couldn't get them Saban would own college football doing that.

    Ghost of Bryant

  • Coach Saban is going to do something most said would not happen again in college football due to rule changes & everyone spending more on their football programs. The next 8 to 10 years are going to special & it can't get much better. The better will be the constant fails by the vols & barn. The vols are a dumpster fire & the barn is getting closer every year to the vols.

Maybe his next era will be our AD!

  • He has won 3 national titles in his last 7 years as a college coach. That is with having to rebuild Alabama as well. Now, he has a program that is already operating at the highest level so I think it's fair to suggest he could win another couple of titles if he stays another 10 years. Winning championships is very hard and takes some luck but I think two more is a reasonable guess considering what he has done so far.

That would be 5 titles, 4 at Alabama. I would consider him on or perhaps even above Bryant's level at that point.

  • He could also win NCs in 3 different decades.

    2000s: 2003/2009
    2010s: 2011,........?
    2020s: 2021?

Would be a pretty cool way to ride off to Lake Burton.

Totally agree...the way CNS dominates in this era is truly astounding. He's already known as the best rebuilder maybe in CFB history. The one thing that people point to when talking about him versus the all time greats is that he hasn't "sustained" yet. Well, he is well on his way to that here and a dynasty is in the making. Just so thankful he's doing it here and not at LSU.

Obviously he is more successful at UA than LSU. But how were his recruiting classes down at LSU though?
