I'm sorry but he's got to go

  • And before all the apologists hop on with "oh the refs cost us the game," yes the reffing was very one-sided but that is NOT what cost us the game. Our offensive ineptitude did. You cannot have 8/9 minute scoring droughts every game and be a consistent winning program. There is no excuse for the lack of offensive identity in year 4 of a program. And it shows no sign of getting better- in fact it's going downhill.

Today we had a perfect chance. Florida was NOT on their game. Their 3 ball was off (did they even hit one in the 2nd half?) they were sloppy and turned it over leading to easy points for us- it was all there for us to steal an upset worth its weight in gold. We didn't do it, and it's on Grant. His inability to coach offense is running our program into the ground. I can only hope the administration is taking notice and not just gloating in football success..

  • Regardless of Florida being a top ten team and game on the road, suck ass offensive sets, bad rotation, player development, inept recruiting, list goes on and on

Thing is we shouldn't have to depend on beating a top 10 ten on the road to get in tournament. Dayton,Mercer,Tulane and a terrible au team is the ones that you gotta win. Our SEC resume minus the bad barn loss is strong enough to make it in . If we don't get in you can point back to December imo.

  • I thought ball movement was a lot better today, but to many open shots were missed and way to many turnovers. The officiating was awful and was not going to allow Bama to win. Mysterious fouls were called on one end and hard obvious fouls were not called on the other which took Bama out of its offense and Bama could not be as aggressive on defense as they would like. This loss is not on CAG ( although others have been). Not a conspiracy theorist but the SEC was not letting U F lose today.

  • Grant should be under some pressure to win next year. They should be in the top 25 all season and I'll disappointed if they don't make the sweet 16. If they don't make a run in the tourney then I would like to see some changes but Mal is never going to fire a bball coach who just made the tournament.

I agree wholeheartedly! Again the only reason today was so important was because of our embarrassing losses. You can't let Grant off the hook for not winning a tough game because he lost several easy games lol, It all comes back to poor coaching wherever it is that you draw the line

  • Also tired of all the whining that "We Can't" do this or "We can't" do that. We CAN hire an elite coach. Money talks, period. You put enough money in facilities, contracts, assistant coaches pay etc, you can hire who you want. It can be done, look at how much the AD's profit has increased since we decided to invest in football the way we did. WE CAN, it's just up to the athletic department to do it. You put enough 0's on a contract, you can hire almost anybody. There are a few who would not listen but only a handful.

That easy huh? If we could do this, don't you think we would? Seriously? We have not been an elite Bball program during your entire lifetime. That's just reality.

True enough, this is 2 of the past 3 years we are going to miss the NCAA Tourney because Grant did not have us ready to play the OOC schedule during November and December. It's becoming a pattern with Grant teams and to me it shows how poor Grant is at getting his teams motivated to prepare for the season before the season starts.

I think Anthony is doing a good job, building our program. Sure, it's frustrating when we lose the gimmes to Auburn, but his team really took it to Florida for most of the game today. Only in the final 7-minutes did UF really step up their game. At the same time, our shooting went really cold, with shots bricked over and again.

In the final analysis, I believe Anthony Grant is making progress with our program. Perhaps not as quickly as any of us would like. But, we're making progress. It would help if he could have some more success in recruiting. Hopefully, that'll improve, too.

Um, yea, it is that easy. It was that easy in football and its a heck of a lot harder to turnaround a football program than it is basketball. When Wimp was here we may not have been "elite" but we were consistently in the Sweet Sixteen. No reason we can't be again except people are satisfied with a poor product. Money talks, bull crap walks. Money talks in facilities, coaches, assistant pay, etc, always has, always will. You want to know why we hired Cristobal from his alma mater and why Miami can't get it turned around, look at what they spend. If you spend the money and hire top shelf coaches, you succeed. Texas, all the money in the world, piss poor coach. Do both, you win, pretty dang simple.
