    I thought ball movement was a lot better today, but to many open shots were missed and way to many turnovers.

    It really was in the first half. We actually set perimeter screens to free up Lacey for both of his early 3s. We were actually setting screens, most of the 1st half, our best offensive half as far as off the ball action all year.

    Then in the 2nd half, we just quit doing it. Why? Personally I think it is because the coaches worked on specific screens to go against Florida's D in the long 4 day lead up to this game, but because we don't consistantly teach our players to screen as a normal part of our offense, we reverted back to our normal offensive play of no ball movement, and holding the ball, and putting up forced jumpers in the second half. Once the contested jumpers stopped falling with 10 minutes to go, we were done.

    Sadly I think we saw in the first half what our players are capable of if we were better coached to play smart offensively for entire ball games on a consistant basis.

When Wimp was here we may not have been "elite" but we were consistently in the Sweet Sixteen. No reason we can't be again except people are satisfied with a poor product. Money talks, bull crap walks. Money talks in facilities, coaches, assistant pay, etc, always has, always will. You want to know why we hired Cristobal from his alma mater and why Miami can't get it turned around, look at what they spend. If you spend the money and hire top shelf coaches, you succeed. Texas, all the money in the world, piss poor coach. Do both, you win, pretty dang simple.

    You need to apply for a job in our Ad dept. We would be winning Basketball Championships in no time. Hey, as a fan I'm all for it.

  • We were playing for the league title with 3 games left. Even if the league is down this year it would be hard to fire a coach when the team could finish 2nd.

    And you're missing the point if you think this is only due to today's game. Have you been watching the last 4 years? People have always had qualms with our half court offense, and they're growing louder every game said offense costs us

  • Grant will not be fired this year guys. Just go ahead and accept this. My main issue with Grant is, he does not seem to recruit pure shooters and a pure center. How many of our current roster would play for Florida? What about Georgetown, Syracuse, Miami, Duke, and Indiana?

    I don't want to say Grant cant coach yet, but he sure gets a C- when it comes to recruiting.

    We lost by 12 and basically didn't bother scoring during the last 12 minutes of the game. You guys are reaching...

  • I'm to the point where I hope Grant leaves for another school and have major success at that school so I can gladly come on this board and just laugh. Grant is a good coach that doesn't get any fan support......just some nagging little girls.

    That's my point! ONE of our starters could start for one of those teams. We don't belong in the top 64 discussion. Unless we start bringing in guys that can shoot a 3 or shoot 10-15 footers, we are always going to be a middle of the road team that makes the NIT most years.

    So his only problem is lack of fan support. Does that mean if we all hold up signs saying "We love you CAG" our half court offense will magically get better?

    Yep could have finished 2nd, but we will probably finish 5th. Seriously the majority of our hard SEC games came at the end of the schedule which allowed this stupid augurment of Grant has us 2nd in the SEC to go on so long when we were obviously playing crappy basketball for most of the year.

  • After reading the post i looked up how many of the top 20 paid coaches had their team the top NCAA 25, only about 10 were in it. THe one team that stands out for me over the years is GONZAGA, ranked no 2. Their coach is not making the money CAG is by a long shot. They are good year in and out. If the football team performed like the basketball program has the past 4 years we would not be as enamored with CNS as we are and would be demanding a change, so why accept less from the basketball program? Alabama is paying a top 20 salary for the basketball coach so why do we keep saying give him more time? Kentucky won it all with a freshmen team, it does not take 4 years to build a winning team in basketball with the one and done era. Heck pay the Gonzaga coach what he wants to come to bama ,at least make the effort or lets just all except the fact that BAMA does't really care about a top 25 team. Most of the top 10 thru 20 coaches don't make any more than CAG!
