How Malzahn has totally fallen from grace in the coaching carousel with both his poor numbers this year and that strange situation with his wife. You think, before all that, that he would have been mentioned as a leading candidate for all of the big jobs...

Look at that program just 1 year ago. Wow, the poster boy of one hit wonders, "the whole Auburn 'fambly'" RTR!!!
Perception is reality. you've really got to have the right kind of players, especially at qb, to make that kind of system work, Just look at Meyer and UF after Tebow left. I think that Malzahn is just as good as he was last year, but in that system he runs, the qb makes or breaks you. And he's broke right now......real broke.
He was crazy to not take a head coaching job last year. His stock will never be higher than it was last year. He's a good coach, and his offense would work well in most conferences. But in the SEC he will need an exceptional QB surrounded by play makers to ever get back to the NC game. I wonder if he does stay at AU this year and next season AU goes 7-5 like most expect, will they dump Chizik and promote Gus?
It's not just the QB'S. That offensive line isn't up to snuff. Last year, newton and that o line would have made any OC look good. At the same time I think Gus is very good at what he does.
The video of his wife that went around had to hurt him also. I wouldn't want to have her around my program!
