That is a fair point, and I am sure he will have a longer career than most as a result of it. Still, the guy hasn't played in a long time and it is a stretch to think that he will be better than a current 5 star. I think it is a cop out.
I play Rugby in Birmingham. I'm not very good but learning (not bad for a girl!). My true passion is ping pong.

1) if he is at the peak performing age, then why is the average age of his position in the NFL younger than he currently is? That math doesn't work.
2) & 3) He has been out of football for 10 years. Please tell me something that you did 10 years ago, that you could pick up and do on a professional/collegiate equivalent level. (Sex joke here)
Bringing up Brandon Weeded doesn't translate into "supporting your facts". Facts should support arguments and opinions. I'm not sure how you would support facts, with more facts?
I think I have pretty much countered everything brought up, so I suppose we will have to agree to disagree.

I'm not talking about Conner as a person. Hell, to be honest, I didn't even know who he was until today. I'm sure he's a phenomenal athlete and deserves the 5-star rating. I'm in this thread to support Jai Miller. Like I've said many times before. I've been supporting Miller for much longer than Feb 6th, 2013. This isn't some "oh yeah, we don't need 'em anyway....we've got Jai Miller" act. I've never once discredited Conner. I've only been pro-miller. Go back and read my posts.
Think about it....why would I be "butt-hurt" over this one individual player, but not say anything about the 5* Auburn and Ole Miss commits that we lost out on?
If we're going to be childish about this and post hashtags (we're not on twitter, instagram, vine or facebook) and also call the grammar police, then that's fine. Pretty sure when you start pulling the grammar police card, you don't have anything else valid to say.
It's not a cop out / butt hurt excuse when I've never said anything derogatory about this kid, only stating my support for another player.... a player that is one of the two points of discussion in this thread.

Where in this, the original post, does it say anything about being OK we missed out on TC? It says, "Not down that we missed out but lots of oppurtunities for others to develope." Spelling errors left in tact. (g) I'm pretty sure that can be translated to say that he isn't particularly thrilled that we missed out on TC, but the fact we did may leave opportunities for others to develop, such as Jai Miller and whoever else. Your "attack" on the OP was based on the fact you misunderstood what he said in the first place. Is it likely that our staff or anyone on this board would have preferred JM over TC? Probably not. Is it still possible that JM can produce at a level equal to or greater than TC for us? Yes, it is possible. I think you're the one who is "butt hurt" because nobody seems to agree with you that it is impossible.

I think from a professional athlete's perspective, Tony Conner has more "prime" years ahead of him than Jai Miller does, who is in his late 20's.
Look, again, I'm not taking away from Jai will accomplish at UA, nor am I doubting him. All I am trying to say is that it is ridiculous to say that he is a better prospect than Conner on the day that Conner says no thanks to us given the difference in where they are in their lives.
I think the OP was just trying to make himself or us (I'm not sure) feel better about losing Conner by saying that Jai Miller may be a better prospect than him. And as another poster said above, if another fan base tried to pull that, we would give them hell over it. Why is that so hard to admit?

I was talking average age. Please tell Ed I said "Hello" as well. Mark Barron is 23, there are outliers on both sides. Ed Reed is a freak.
It is a cop out/butt hurt excuse for us to say it's OK to miss out on Tony Conner because we have a 28 year old walk on waiting in the wings.

Chris Weinke and Brandon Weeden both say hello.
While you have point that the OP does come across as a little homerish & sour about losing out to Conner, you are pretty much wrong w/ your notion that it is irrational to think players can come back to a sport they excelled at in high school after years away from the sport in MLB/minor leagues. Weinke and Weeden both did so pretty successfully at a much more difficult position than Safety (which is why it took 2+ years before they took over the starting jobs)
Now, it's obvious that Jai has a long road ahead of him to be an impact player on our team, w/ a bunch of talented players w/ experience in front of him. But to say it is irrational to think he can succeed, especially considering he is both mature physically and mentally, is, well, irrational.
edit - I guess I'll be third in bringing up the Weinke/Weeden comparisons, lol
