Johnny Manziel is good but

  • Alot of his longer passes after he scrambled were wounded ducks thrown up for grabs and it seemed like our guys were just out of position and their receivers just made the play.

  • Man, there's really not a whole lot u can take from that guy. One of the best players I've ever watched live. He's unbelievable

  • Manziel was outstanding yesterday. With that said, something tells me he may become a little more human as 1) SEC defenses adjust to the tempo of Texas A&M's offense (see Urban Meyer at Florida and Gus Malzahn at Auburn) and 2) when he is not protected by two all-world Offensive Tackles who allow him to take the edge anytime he wants or needs it.

I agree...that first quarter was something to see...everyone sitting around me was just stunned ....when you see him in person you get a good understanding of just how good he really is.....

  • Last night manziel put on the best qb performance I've witnessed in bds from whistle to whistle. That includes can newton

  • The kid is a great scrambler and can throw on the run. That will work against anyone. Having said that they only scored 9 pts in 3 qtrs. And Sumlin didnt pull off the gas. We figured out how to stop him. We'll do it for 4 qtrs next year.

    bamamba1989

  • Not late on the game. He put those things on the money!

    guesthome1234

  • The kid made some huge plays in the 4th qtr. If they don't score those 9pts. they lose 24-20

  • Those two long passes on their final touchdown drive couldn't have been placed any better than they were. I definitely didn't anticipate him being to throw the ball as well as he did.

Interesting to note that the first of those passes was with him standing tall in the pocket. Which was supposed to be what he wasn't good at. Hmmmmmm I'd say he's a pretty good passer overall. & his running ability really puts intense pressure on any defense.

No, "buts." Johnny Football played an incredible game. He's the real-deal. He influenced just about every aspect of that game.

    zigzag

  • He made that game the most FRUSTRATING game I've ever watched. I was sick every third down because I knew no matter how well the D played he would find a way to get the sticks moved...unreal!

I have my priorities messed up. Roll Damn Tide!!!

    Tylerjo12

  • I would play Newton and Tebow two times each to avoid Johnny Football. I watched in person last night one of the most talented qb's to ever take the field. That kid was phenomenal ON THE ROAD AND UNDER PRESSURE. I kept waiting for him to crack in the 4th when we turned the heat up, and he just stayed true to his game and played on.

Defenses can adjust all they want but he will get his in the end. They can be beat but Manziel is truly a special player and hats off to him, period.

  • Simply put you have to score with teams built like that. Just can't assume you can shut them down imho.

True but while the QB is great no doubt, i doubt he will not play like that very often. Drew Brees type accuracy with better legs and the ability to avoid the rush and then rapidly scan downfield and throw.

I don't know we could be watching the next Michael Vick (in terms of CFB impact), but I am not sure if we didn't just catch him on a really really good day.

I don't know about you, but I'm getting tired of watching qb's have career games against Bama. Just saying.

As for Manziel, if that was him on a really, really good day I will take his average day all day long. As someone mentioned earlier, watching that in person was just stunning. I've never witnessed anything quite like it.

Give him his due. He's a player. How many of his wounded ducks was an INT ? Zero.

On your first point, I don't like it either but let's not pretend it happens very often? It takes excellent QB play to beat us which is why only 7 teams have beaten us in the last like 65 games. If you are going to lose, make the QB beat you and every time we have lost in the past five years it's been against excellent QB play (with the possible exception of LSU in 2011 where it was a great defense and a surprise option attack). If you look at the entire picture and not get emotional about a game or two you will see that opposing QBs have generally had pretty rotten days against UA...the last two weeks notwithstanding. So agree I don't like it either, just don't like or agree with the implication that it is commonplace because it's obviously not.

Manziel made all the correct reads, was aggressive, and beyond surgical with his arm. It's quite possible that he is one of the best players we have ever seen, but I would caution on that a bit and say that it's also quite possible that he will not play well very often. He was on fire accurate and he receivers made plays to help him out, I just don't know if you will see that every week. It's certainly possible though...

I think he should be on top of the list this year, and I said that before Saturday. If the Heisman is supposed to go to the most outstanding player, I think you'd be hard pressed to find one more outstanding than JM.
