I've heard a lot more about auburn's involvement in his situation than I have about the player himself. For all I know, he's a really good kid who always had an adult telling him his grades would be taken care of, and just to focus on football. Can't pass high school? How would I know that? There's a good chance nobody ever asked him to pass high school.
I don't see what he's done to deserve a negative opinion from me. As a high school kid he lacked the self discipline it would have taken to be a good student when he was told by adults in his life that it wasn't important and that it would be taken care of? I don't think it's fair for me to judge that scenario from the outside looking in, so I won't.
Maybe he's grown up since he got out of Trooper's pocket. Maybe he goes to prep school and gets his crap together. Then what? I hear he's a good football player. I fail to see an egregious character flaw here, based on what I know about him--which is little.
"That's the way it goes. But don't forget, it goes the other way too."
