His analysis is problematical, because all he does is say we had some problems in 2010, so we must have problems in 2011.
Even ignoring the fact that he cherry-picked 3 games from 2010 instead of looking at the whole season, the even bigger problem is that we had one, count 'em one starter returning in 2010 and our top 6 return in 2011.
The VERY FIRST THING you do when evaluating a CFB unit is see how veteran they are. Last year we were extremely non-veteran in the D backfield, this year we are extremely veteran. Night and day.
He's also incorrect about Barron. He was free safety last year, just like this year. He should have asked Mallet first hand what he thinks of the D. His 2nd half was horrendous against our secondary.
Mark Barron has never been anything besides a safety for UA.. After I read his analysis on MB I just stopped. He is clueless .. He has not watched us play he is simply looking at stat lines to write an article.. What a joke.
I guess we're doomed.
Hmmmmm.......I think a better example of a horrendous secondary last year and this year would be AU and AU won a national title last year. They were also consistently and every game. The whole Barron thing is just ridiculous. He has some nice stats that he cherry picked just to make his case, ut missed that one all together. You can just about pick and choose any group of stats for any team you want and make a case. If I took Ingrams stats from the 09 iron bowl and the 2010 season I could say he was a mediocre back and everyone in America knows that is not true.
He would have a point if our team had not improved at all from last season. I think we have.
I'll say this much about his Ali analogy. I'd still rather be Muhammed Ali than Ken Norton.
we were 6th in opponent passer rating last year. what more do you need to know?
The entire secondary is back and healthy and we didn't lose a single player.
Dre is probably twice the player at this point than what Arkansas faced last year. Menzie (whom he ignored) is our other starter. An improving Milliner has moved to the third CB and others have more experience at well.
When we played Arkansas and South Carolina last year, three of the four starters had never reallly played in a SEC game. Now they are all experienced.
I don't know about using that is a proxy but good luck.
