Keep in mind...

  • Oregon will likely get a solid home win over USC tomorrow (I think they will). USC is a top 25 team. However, Bama should get a solid road win over a BCS top 25 team in Auburn next weekend. They are currently 24th and it would be great to see them move up a couple spots before we play. That's a plus for us, IMO.

The negative is Oregon has one more game than we do but that will likely be against an unranked PAC 12 south team so that shouldn't help that much. Being conference champs while we won't be will hurt but when comparing LSU losses, we clearly have the advantage.

I think it will be close. Anyone else? Regardless, this was the best case scenario for us. Hell of a night, RTR!

  • Most voters get lazy and just move the next team up if the team above them falls. Tonight kills Oklahoma's title hopes. Oregon would need a top ten win to jump us and they don't have one on the schedule. As long as we win out we should be in. Even if the Iron Bowl is close it may not hurt us because the national media recognizes the rivalry.

  • Actually, best case scenario is USC beats Oregon, ok st beats OU, Ark beats LSU. Then we move to one, Arky to two, LSU to three, we go to ATL then NOLA.
Seriously doubt ALL THAT happens, but after tonight, I believe there's a shot.
Either way, we win out and its going to be very difficult for us to not go to NOLA(BCSNCG).

  • I hope you're right and you probably are. Just trying to consider all angles here. I don't really know how far ahead we are of Oregon in the computers but from what y'all are saying it's a pretty big gap. Then it just comes down to voters and I hope they will consider the respective LSU losses over the fact that Oregon will be a conference champ because guess what...if Oregon was in the SEC they wouldn't be conference champs either because LSU whipped their ass!

  • Great thing about tonight, we just need to win our last two games most likely and we're in.

Why would that be the best case scenario? I don't want to play in Atlanta if I can go to the national championship without it.

Because that eliminates ANY POSSIBILITY of the voters pumping a bunch of votes to Oregon in an attempt to jump us.
You telling me you would enjoy another SEC CHAMPIONSHIP? Obviously we want the crystal trophy, but the sec champ. is important too.

Its a tough decision on whether I would rather have the SEC or beat LSU for the NC. Tough call.
