Kiper: Lacy needs to lose spin move.

Is this the same Mel Kiper who didn't think Russell Wilson would be any good? Or is it the guy who thought Jimmy Clausen would be good? Or, is it the same one who said Blaine Gabbert was on Cam's level? Hey Mel you don't watch any college football so why don't you find a tall building and jump off knees 1st.

Kiper vs Sheridan to replace Paul Bearer

Pro wrestling manager known as "Paul Bearer" dies in Alabama - Yahoo! Sports

From Yahoo! Sports: MOBILE, Alabama (Reuters) - The professional wrestling community on Wednesday mourned the death of William Moody, a real-life undertaker who gained fame as a wrestling manager with the ring name Paul Bearer. Moody, 58, who managed the entertainment sport's champion The Undertaker and helped launch the careers of wrestlers Kane and Mankind, died Tuesday night at a hospital in his hometown of Mobile, Alabama, according to a hospital employee. The hospital did not release a cause of death. ...

  • My favorite part of the Draft is when Kiper sits up there and looks stupid because majority of his "so called locks" never go to those teams.. I dont take him serious at all anymore.

  • I recently watched a replay of the SECCG. Early in the contest, Eddie took a hand off deep in the backfield (I can't remember if it was a draw play, or not). A UG linebacker met him about 1-yard deep in the backfield and Eddie gave him a quick little juke *as he accelerated* and made the tackler miss, altogether. Lacy's ability to use *wiggle* to elude defenders is one of the more underpublicized aspects of his stylistic repertoire, as a ball carrier. Yet, along with his acclaimed spin move, his speed, and his ability to change directions and truck tacklers, he's got a nice palette of colors to paint with, I'd say.

  • Kiper also said before the championship game that Manti Teo would be the best player on the field.

Kiper has Lacy at 25 on his newest big board but says he needs to lose the spin move. Considering how effective it is for Eddie, does he really need to? Is it too dangerous a move, resulting in injuries?

Also, Kiper has Milliner at #2, Warmack at #9, Fluker at #21, Lacy at #25. Has Cooper one spot ahead of Warmack now. I noticed McShay has Cooper going 10 to the Titans and Warmack 18 to the Cowboys. I think Cooper must have had a better combine.

I had noticed this too before, I heard him say it 3 or 4 times at least. But I was just watching Mel Kiper & Todd McShay's breakdown of offensive draft prospects on demand. He noted Lacy's spin move in a positive light, saying he has an "Athletic spin move"...so maybe we changed his mind. RTR.

Mel Kiper is good, but not infallible, as evidenced by this ^^^ ill-advised recommendation. Eddie's spin-move certainly isn't the first of its type. But, it is possibly the most effective I have seen in all my years as a football fan. His innate timing of the move is at least as impressive as is his footwork. I anticipate there will be a whole generation of future RBs who emulate *the Eddie Lacy spin move*.

  • There are no Demetruce McNeals in the NFL. Spin moves get big backs lit up.

These guys say so much shit for months prior to the draft, and do so many different mocks, they can't keep track of what they've said or predicted. The whole NFL Draft industry borders on the ludicrous.

Exactly. I don't understand how someone gets paid to do what Kiper and McShay do with the draft analysts. They just guess and throw ish at the wall to see what sticks. Their projections are usually wrong anyways. Kiper was about to cry because Brady Quinn didn't get drafted where he predicted several years back.

I said the same thing early last season...and I admit I was stupid to ever think that.

  • I believe concerns regarding the spin move have to do with ball security. But that doesn't really mean he has to lose it; he just has to be careful with it, which I think we can all agree was not a problem this past season. The read option can be dangerous, too, but it's so effective it's worth the risk...as long as the QB is careful.
