LSU Week: "It is our Time"

  • As the sun sets in Baton Rouge this Saturday, roughly 100,000 people will fill Tiger Stadium, all eyes on a 120 yard playing field, the world tunes in to watch, Alabama and LSU fans on the edge of their seats. The clock ticks..ticks...creeping towards zero. The anticipation lingers in the cold air of Louisiana...

As the night falls, everything is forgotten. The grind of the week is over, the preparation for each team is over. Suspense is starting to boil over, sweating of the palms begin. Nothing else matters. The cold is not felt, and the butterflies start to kick in. The anticipation is gone, everything is very quiet inside the mind, but so loud at the same time. The stadium starts to make a quiet rumble...the pregame speeches are over. The adrenaline rushes through the veins, as the music in Tiger stadium gets louder, the crowd begins to increase as people find their seats. At home Alabama and LSU fans are saying their lasts words, eyes never leaving the screen as you start to ease up in the seat..nervous? Are you feeling confident? The clock strikes zero, and a 15 is put into the minutes column. On the LSU side, players start coming down the tunnel, Coach Miles gets in front of a rowdy bunch of Tigers, he tries holding them back, and the stadium noise increases another notch. For us...this is not about the hype, as Alabama is being lead by Coach Saban down unto the field. Words start to enter the minds of each player mind, "dominate", "do your job", "execute".....the bright lights start to enter their vision. The crowd noise is their, but hardly even heard. As the mind drifts into a trance, all feeling goes away. Are you ready? LSU players are let through by Coach Miles, and began their sprint to the sidelines, the crowd erupts. Stadium starts to rock, and the common look from an LSU team is apparent, pumped up, and they look confident, but are they? Coach Saban then turns to his team, with heads bobbing, the look of domination in the eyes, like a medicine slowly wearing off player by player, we become calmer as Saban professionally, he claps his hands, like a gesture that his team is ready. He then turns, Alabama Flags go up, the band begins, as the trout to the sideline begins, the adrenaline releases, the feeling goes down your spine, one last deep breath for those at home as boos and cheering go into the cold night air.

Some fans enter their seats as many stay standing, the stadium settles for just a few seconds. Different coaches talking to different players on the sideline...as the bobbing of heads continue from some of the players in a huddle on the edge of the field...fans at home make sure everything is quiet, last second adjustments are made in the seat. One last thought comes to your mind, still nervous? To say "No" would be a lie, but you do lie and the nervousness takes over, and the confidence you had is in the back of your mind....

Both teams, for a few hours will be tested, mind and body. But how well have we prepared? There is no question, no one prepares like Alabama. Are we ready? No doubt in our minds....we are. It has been a long time since that day in Bryant Denny, do we remember? Of course, but Saturday is about Alabama. Who we are. Not what we have done. This has nothing to do with what happened a year ago. The stakes are the same, but the outcome is in our hands. This time things will be different. This time our punches are stronger, we are prepared for this battle. This time mistakes wont be made, we have been here before, but everything is about what we can do to dominate LSU. What we can do to make this OUR game.

As we line up for the opening kickoff we all know..punches will be thrown, sweat will be pouring, blood will be shed, the body will take a beating. But this time..this time we will have the final knockout...this time things are going to be different...this time Alabama will be different, This time..It is our time!

Lebron James will never be as good as Michael Jordan, thus we should get rid of his nickname, "The King".
