I have no idea if Saban would hire Thompson or not. And I don't really care if he does or not...because I know he will hire the best he can get.
I also don't read too much into anything Thompson said when he arrived in Knoxville. As soon as he became a Vol, I would expect him to be 100% Vol. I would expect him to try and get some of our commits. That would be his job. I would also expect him to say things like "putting a wall around Memphis". What's wrong with saying some stuff like that to try and invigorate your program? Not that it did any good, of course!
Thompson was a damn good recruiter at Alabama. Rivals recruiter of the year, wasn't he? I don't know how good of a position coach he was. When he went to UT, he became 100% Vol. If he comes back to Tuscaloosa, he'll be 100% Bama. Isn't that how it's supposed to be?

And if you want to talk about "putting up a wall", he did put up a wall around Mobile. He recruited Julio, Barron, and Lester. And yes, the Rivals Recruiter of the Year in 2008.

He has some kin folks around Arab and he's more of a Bama man than some might think regardless of what he said when he was hired by tenn .....whether he comes back or not he's one heck of a recruiter.
