Interesting comments about Saban. I guess he didnt like him very much.

  • Its not Saban's job to be "friends" with the players. I've heard nothing but good things about Jenkins as a kid, so I am sure this story is taken way out of context. But with that said ... I would much prefer to play for and learn from an authority figure that didn't give me a secret handshake and hug in the hallway. There's a time and place for that and its 10-20-30 years later when you come back and see/visit with the man that helped shape your life.

    My two cents.

    100% Agree

It seems the coaches that are labeled your friend, are the ones who are out of the game a lot faster or seem to not accomplish as much, as those who are like authority figures.

Reason being is when you think your coach is your friend then you feel you can get away with some things cause he is "your friend." When you have a coach like Saban you know that you must bring it 100% in everything you do not just football related.

LOL...The psychology of people who have an inferiority complex is an interesting one in how they choose to denigrate those they feel inferior to at any opportunity.

  • Is Jenkins about to get Sentimore'd on Saturday?

We all remember the last time a player did this....wasn't pretty for him.

Tell people what they want to hear, they will like you. Tell them the actual truth...they may not.

Yeah, I've seen several comments from recruits about Saban's height. That's what happens when you are so "bad-a*s" that they reach for "alleged " flaws that have no impact on how good you are at your craft. Last time I checked, "short" Saban was the most intimidating coach to players and other coaches in college football.

Jenkins is "reaching" for a flaw.

Saban isn't that short when he stands on his wallet.

  • A girl at our old office used to date Kenny Chesney. I would give her a hard time about lil' Kenny's lack of height. Her response was "he's not that short when he stands on his wallet." Suffice to say, they didn't work out in the long term.

  • Does Jenkins think that is impressive? I have taken the things that UGA players have said as them trying to convince themselves they belong with us. I dont get the feeling that they are certain they do. The start of the game will be huge. If we jump on them early, I think we blow them out. If we give them reason to believe they can win, we are in for a fight. I believe that they have the most overall talent that we have and will play this year but am not certain they have the mental edge to play with us. We will see.

  • I really didn't see much wrong with what he said. Not sure why everyone is getting offended. Not like he called him out.

Vince Lombardi was asked how it felt to have the best football team in the world. He replied, I don't know. We haven't played Alabama yet.

  • I think you meant a guy in your office used to date Kenny Chesney, I know it's early so we will let it slide.

  • Fogtown, I think it was more of a why tell the story for me. It was like he thought that was impressive. It seemed like he thought he had accomplsihed something by walking past Saban. Nothing highly offensive about it but more of a story that should have no relevance to him anymore. I could be reading it wrong though.

  • I was close this recruitment. Three things:

A.) I was told during the process (not by him) that Smart was much higher on him than Saban was, therefore the comments comparing Smart/Saban make some sense.

B.) His mom made his decision for him. He was a very strong Bama lean throughout and spoke glowingly of Nick Saban. Grantham came in and pitched the idea to her that we had an unsafe environment in Tuscaloosa due to recent shootings and other incidents and it worked. Any alternate reasoning you hear about why he didn't choose Alabama is simply being said to avoid stating the truth.

C.) Jenkins was brought up in a very structured/disciplined environment. He's the kind of kid that embraced what Bama sold. In principle I agree with Lucky's post, but in this specific case.......I think those are things being said by JJ mainly because it sounds good to UGA media/fans. He'll tell you the real story off camera.
