  • After reading this, I hope ppl who have taken cracks at TL bc he didn't become the player THEY wanted him to be will look at him different. Raise your hand if you left school w a degree AND two rings ... no? Thought so.

Congrats, TL - thanks for your contributions & Roll Tide!

  • You know, he could gone half *ss thru the spring and next season and not really offered anything to the team..I congratulate him on his hardware and the accomplishments he helped this team achieve while he was at Bama. Roll Tide and good luck Tyler.

  • Very good article Chris! Tyler's story needed to be told.

+1 for you 92 DT. Unless you count a BAMA senior class ring and a wedding ring, not many of us qualify.

On a more serious note, congrats Tyler! Thank you for your contributions to the Tide! We wish you the best in life where ever it leads you!

We also look forward to watching Wilson and all his team mates in the future!

  • Great stuff, I realize that not every player will reach what we as fans see as their potential. But, it looks as if he displayed the class and character CS demands. Best of luck to him and RTR!!

  • oh good grief !! did Tyler Love (TL) die and the Pope bestow sainthood upon him. so he's graduating with a degree....good for him. that's what the scholarship is for. But it was also to play football at one of the most beloved programs in the history of college football. at 6'7" 307 pounds all he was asked to do was give 100% between the white lines and UA will provide every thing else for him to become a success. He didnt do that !! He chose frat over team, wild times over weightroom, and the strip over the stadium. I'm not going to praise him for that or for graduating. my biggest concern is what did TL cost the University? How many great young men who would have given their heart and soul for the opportunity to wear the crimson jersey didnt get to because TL held their spot. By that I mean how many Will Lowery's, Rashad Johnson's or even Javier Arenas' might we have missed out on? So let's not all pucker up and collectively kiss TL's behind. In my opinion he got alot more out of the University than UA got out of him. Flame away.....................

  • We can whitewash this story if we want to, but something went wrong. Injuries is a convenient excuse, but every lineman has injuries. I think BJones has played with injuries his whole time at school. How does a 5 Star rivals recruit rarely find the field with all the help we have needed on the Oline? I doubt the coaching staff cried too much about him leaving. It is a lesson to be learned by the fans. If you never hear anything about a player over a couple of years, that is indication that it is not working out.

    Punkbuster

  • Saban asked him to come back several times...those are the facts. Tyler created depth and was a team player. Everyone has a role whether they are a 5 star that doesn't play or a 2 star that is an all american. For the number of 2 and 3 stars that become all americans it really shouldn't be a huge surprise when there is a 5 star that doesn't pan out the way you and everyone including Tyler would have hoped. The lesson here should be that stars don't matter, I can assure you that Tyler didn't beg to have 5 stars next to his name on a recruiting website so that people could place unrealistic expectations on him.

    FrankJr10

  • Love was a gigantic bust as a football player. Really no way around that. Consensus 5 star player who did nothing more than add depth throughout his career. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that he seems like a great kid and will likely do very well in life. He has never done anything to make UA look bad, and he will be a strong alumni, I presume. What it appears to boil down to is that TL, while born into the body of an elite OT, just didn't like football that much. You can't fault him for that. I wish the kid well and thank him for his contributions. I also think it was a classy move to give up his spot if he wasn't into playing anymore. Good luck to the young man.

  • Crimsonlawyer is right! Being a big bad boy in high school and the SEC are two deferent things. Sometimes big bodies just wont hold up to the abuse, doesnt make them weak or lazy just a body that is abnormal! There have been may kids that had to lose weight after football just to be able to walk the rest of their lives! I remember a player in late eighties and a friend of mine Scotty Bolt the same problems. As for hanging out and having fun in college? The shame!!!

To go one step further, TL could have had the perfect body for football, and it could have held up like armor, but if he didn't like playing football, you can't fault him for not wanting to do it anymore. I'm sure it is a burden on some kids to be apparently born to do something outwardly, but to not like doing whatever it is. If that's not what makes him happy, so be it.
