Lucky: new feature idea

  • Right now we have the 247 and composite rankings, but I think it would interesting to release a top 247 4 year review. What I mean by that is to go back to the class from 4 years ago and create a 247 ranking (just the top 247, not everyone) based on what they have actually accomplished. And maybe an accompanying article discussing the biggest hits and misses in the class.

    Think it would be really interesting to see it side by side with the original ranking. Since you'll have actually college tape and even some draft info, don't think it wotluld be too hard to swing, and the article could be really fun.

    That's a great idea. Rerank the class. Ill get it on it.

    We are currently building a college player ranking platform. Going to rank the top 40 or so players for every team and create a team talent index and cross reference it with recruiting rankings and current college rankings (BCS, etc). Also, working on a draft composite and a bunch of other cool indexes.

    The 4 year ranking gauge would be a lot of fun. There are always guys on both sides or the fence that surprise and you can only evaluate so much. Some guys don't fit the system they commit to, some guys blossom late, some guys thrive within a system. It's what makes recruiting so much fun to follow. Plus now when I watch almost any game I can annoy everyone by giving lengthy background stories on our players and the other teams players dating back to 10th graders on some of them lol.

  • Lucky, just want to thank you for continuing to push the envelope in terms of what the 247 network offers. Can't wait to see what great new ideas you and your team come up with next. One of these days, you may prove to be successful at this whole recruiting/team site concept (g).

    They'll rerank our class usually, but I would like to see who the top 247 players ended up being. Which means they would have to rerank more than just our class.

    I really like how Lucky said they were going rank the top 40 from each team, because then, assuming players are ranked against players from other teams, you could just apply a class filter to get the answer.

    But I think the article discussing the success of the class, especially the misses, would just as important. It's almost like going down memory lane for those of us who have been on the site long enough. It was interesting watching the class of 2009 video someone posted yesterday. There were more misses in that video than I remembered.
