It's not that simple. People just dont like to pay for news anymore. Even an organization with the clout of the nytimes is struggling to monetize it's online news delivery.

I think he is rather fortunate to have gotten 40 years in. I assume he is not far off from retirement. Many of the younger generations are probably looking at career changes, which I would personally find terrifying.

The New York Times is facing bankruptcy. Five years from now, there may be no daily papers left. By the way, I am a carrier for the H'ville Times and am really looking forward to sleeping 4 days a week.

I didn't say reading them presented a challenge, I said the New York Times is having difficulty convincing people to pay to read them.

As someone who use to work for The Anniston Star in the IT Department, I was lucky or like I like to call it blessed because I got a job offer in October 2007 to go work for Gadsden State Community College, and I took it even though it was a slight cut in pay but already living in Gadsden I saved gas money and the insurance decrease payments pretty much made my income the same.. When I left there were 5 of us in the IT Dept... A year later in November of 2008 The good ol' Anniston Star fired 4 guys in the IT Dept leaving one guy to do the work of 5.... Also they let about 25 other people go, a lot of them some of my closest friends.. Fortunately, I was able to help get my Best Friend who was one of the 5 in the IT Dept to lose his Job, a job at GSCC... Actually, his credentials got him the job, I just mentioned his name...So I KNOW what it is like in the News Industry..
