Read your own question here. Your names are not fitting the bill. Will? DT and Biscuit were great, not all that mean though. Im going with Leroy Jordan. My uncle was an all american at Bama and told me stories about him. Lots of stories..He should win this debate by a landslide.
Mark Anderson was pretty damn mean and intense when he played here too. Also, anyone remember Rolando McLain?

Thanks for the link. Dude put an inordinate amount of effort into proving that Graning used to be a whiny young bitch and grew into a bitter old bitch. Still, I think we can all agree that I was right. No one was meaner than Darwin Holt.

I'm with you TID1945. Darwin Holt would have to be the man.Some of the younger guys won't remember him but he played LB at 170lbs.It is true be broke Granning from GT up pretty bad in the 1961 game..

Gellerstedt was tough. Ended up going to Tampa I believe.
With that said, lots of the guys mentioned meet the "tough" part of the question. However, I have been watching bama football since the late 1950's, and Darwin Holt is clearly, without any question, the meanest player bama ever had. He was not that big, but was as physical as they come.

I do think Gellerstedt in my time as a Bama fan, but I may have to concede to Darwin Holt from a slightly earlier era as meanest of all.

Pat Trammell. My dad went to school with him. Wow at some stories dad has told. His freshman year bama had signed like five QB's in his class. First day, in locker room Pat took a pocket knife out stuck it in the bench and told the others not to be getting any ideas because he was the QB. Guy wouldn't back down from anyone including Coach Bryant.

McClain was good for a personal foul penalty about every 2 or 3 games. I'd say he qualifies as "mean." You never WANT penalties, but if it's at a non-critical point in the game, I'm ok with a player, especially on defense, getting a late hit penalty or something just to send a message that hey, you're gonna get hit.
