Watching this round table thing on ESPN. David Pollack commented that Mettenberger has a top 5% arm but virtually no athletic ability in terms of mobility. That should be interesting.

Just saw that also..and got me thinking who is the last non-mobile qb to beat us? I know Garcia threw alot in 2010 but he was a mobile threat..cam, jefferson in 2010..tebow in 08..back to 07 maybe?

One of the guys said " Mettenberger comes in with a higher pass completion percentage than Jordan Jefferson" and Desmond said, " well that's not saying much".

I don't think the receivers are the problem. That offense is fundamentally askew. Talent isn't the issue.

I keep wondering why people are always saying that Mettenberger is such an improvement at the position. Obviously anything is a step up from Jefferson, but Mettenberger was eligible to play last year if I'm not mistaken. If he's such an improvement over their QBs last year, why didn't he play last year? Just puzzles me a little bit

Problem for Z Mettenberger is he will be smacked around by a good rushing D and like Wilson did last year duck and run for his life...I really believe that is why Les Miles did not consider playing him over Jefferson last year...LSU will be counting on their line protecting him and their backs pounding the ball down field at will...good luck with that...here is my prediction for the so called lsu QB saviour...he will be dazed and somewhat confused after the Bama D hats drill his a** and remind us of 2010 when Jordan Jefferson looked bewildered and confused and took himself out of the game with us and OL' Les will have the same look he had in last years BCS Championship Game...not a clue on what to do....

tyler wilson can run better than mettenberger.
I am not completely buying that mett will be a sitting duck for our D because I am not sure how well we will rush the passer.
To use the Mallett comparison made a few times above. Mallet never beat us, but he was damn close in 10. A strong armed accurate qb that has a little bit better run game and defense will be tough to defend. Mallet didn't have a very good run game or D. LSU will have both.
I will be worried or not after I see how quickly Mett can make reads/ decision under duress once play begins.
