Mettenberger will be tight as a banjo! >>>

  • "I have to have a really good game for us to win against Alabama," Mettenberger said. "A lot is expected of the quarterback at a big-time university. I work as hard as I can. Hopefully, I can just get another win for LSU. That would give momentum to our team and momentum for me for the rest of the year."

There is no doubt that Mettenberger's adjustment to Southeastern Conference football has been much tougher than he anticipated. His passing numbers for the season are poorer than those recorded by Lee and Jefferson a year ago.

Mettenberger has completed 57 percent of his passes. He has averaged 7.2 yards per pass attempt. Lee and Jefferson completed a combined 62 percent of their passes last year. They averaged a combined 7.7 yards per pass attempt.

Mettenberger has thrown seven touchdown passes and four interceptions. Last season, Lee and Jefferson threw a combined 20 touchdown passes and five interceptions. The passing game is producing just 177 yards per game. Mettenberger's numbers are worse in the four SEC games.

He has never seen a defense like the one he will see Saturday night that is allowed to hit him.

I don't have his high school stats handy but I was living in the Atlanta area at the time he came out and went to UGay and if I remember correctly these numbers aren't a lot different from his HS stats. He was considered raw and a project at the time. I do know he couldn't beat out the pick machine that is the QB there now and lots of the mutts supporters felt the only reason they signed him was because his mom worked in the athletic department. She was a 20+ year employee and quit when he was kicked off team.
