I was a little disappointed that UA renewed Eli Gold's contract for as long as they did. I was really hoping Chris Stewart would get that job eventually....I think he's a fantastic talent. Don't get me wrong, Eli Gold is the voice of the Tide, but he's going to give it up one day.

I love Chris Stewart because he loves Bama but I would be severely disappointed if they ever give him the play by play job for football.

Yeah, I'm kinda torn on the issue...I think Eli's got plenty of time left in him, but I'd hate for Chris to go elsewhere in the meantime.

If you want a homer who loves the Tide, Eli is the man.
If you want to know where the ball is, down and distance,
time remaining and the score, you are out of luck.

I'm only 28, so all of my main Bama memories are with Eli Gold calling the games. I like him quite a bit and think he is entertaining. I've worked with some incredibly talented radio play-by-play guys, and I would put Eli among the best of them.
