Must Read Facts About Tickets and Seats at Sun Life Stadium

  • I spent the better part of the last couple of days with folks at our ticket office and
Sun Life stadium . Ticket prices will start to rise significantly in the next two weeks
in my opinion . This is what I found out ..

The majority of both teams seats were upper decks . This is why you see all of the
" 400 " level tickets for sale on the bama side . The same holds true for ND .

Bama pretty much received tickets from Section 113 to the end zone. .. ND received sections
127 to the other end zone . This is not exact , but it is pretty damn close . There is very little availability in either the " true bama or nd " section . Ninety percent of all the seats available are in " blended sections ". Discovery held a lot . They saved some for public sale . A lot
of South Florida residents , every NCAA school is allocated a certain amount . I am basing
this directly off of stub hub . Bama - ND sections . Very little supply . Blended sections is
where all of the avialability is coming from .

As in most every stadium , lower is better than higher . I was offered some tickets on Row 1.
Fearing not being able to see I called sun life stadium and they guaranteed me via email
that not one low seat would be obstructed . I didn't believe them until I got the email . I was
    really a little shocked .

The lower , better quality seats have held up price wise quite nicely . Section 113 for
example still does not any seats available for less than 2k ... In fact , as of this writing ,
there are only eight seats available on stub hub . This is good because it tells me the
better bama seats are being used and not sold .. The same holds true for nd .. The
upper deck seats have pretty much found a home in the $1300 range .

I then called AAATIX , the largest ticket brokers in Alabama and this was their exact words
to me . " It is just a matter of math . When bama was in the rose bowl , there were 113,000
seats available . We could walk up at kick off and buy tickets for a hundred bucks each .

The super dome only held about 75,000 fans .. Tickets were $1500 at kick off . In Arizona ,
another 75,000 seat stadium , Oregon traveled well due to the short distance . You couldn't buy tickets at any price .." *** I looked at the al.com archives and this was absolutely true .

Now . Sun Life stadium holds about 75,000 also .. I think if you were one of the lucky ones
that bought good seats during the initial drop, you made a wise move. More power to you . In a week I think you will see those $1200 tickets become 2k tickets and I think the prime seats will see close to 4k . I don't think you will be able to even buy a seat outside the stadium . This is perhaps the biggest football game in my life time . I am 57 .

If you want my unsolicited advice , I would go ahead and pick up any bargains you can get ,
because numbers don't lie .. Same size stadiums . 75,000 ... Order request for over 100k
seats from each team . I would get any bargains you can get Now , because I don't see any
way for prices to do anything go but up substantially from here ..

You have to simply ask yourself and use common sense . Is the game bigger than Bama -
LSU ? Is it bigger than AU - Oregon ? Numbers just don't lie .

Just my opinion . ** Full disclosure . I got my 8 tide pride seats and purchased six more from
a ticket broker . I need to get about thirty total for friends , family , customers , etc .. I am
both Buying , Selling , Bartering as I do every year . If you see one of my ad's I didn't want
someome to think I was saying one thing and doing another ... RTR

*** Fwiw ... Better plan on driving if you don't have a flight yet . They are gone .. Pretty
much the same with hotels .

  • Then why not hold the National Title game in a stadium much larger than a small 75k seat stadium? That does not make sense. They should be required to seat 100k in order to host the title game, that way more people could go because ticket prices would be lower.

You are exactly right .. Amazing that BDS hold 100k , Michigan , Tn, Penn State ,
all have bigger stadiums ... I don't make the rules . I do know the host cities pay
a lot of concessions , tax abatements , etc to the NCAA ... The NFL plays the
Super Bowl in these same venues .. Penn State at 118k is the largest stadium in
the country I was told .

  • I think you are going to find that starting 2015 DT with stadium capacity. But for now, it's the 4 BCS stadiums and when the system started, these were basically the biggest stadiums out there in warm weather areas.

This is why I think you won't see a rise. I'm thinking AU vs Oregon was an anomaly. Neither team had ever been and it was a huge deal in a small place. Alabama fans appetites are largely satisfied and flights from Alabama to Miami are booked as are hotels. ND's fanbase is spread out which helps them with flights but can't fix the hotel issue. If there's a will though, there's a way. I know people who stayed in San Diego when we played in Pasadena. Last year was a different animal altogether. Both fanbases were a short drive from the game. The quarter had probably upwards of 50-100k there just to watch game with no intention of getting tix but ready if some appeared.

  • My experience which is less then yours says that prices will drop a little between now and January 1. Then the amount of tickets will drop and prices will spike

If I were going i would look to buy now and not post 1/1/13.

And yes I know compared to last year you had 2 fan bases that could drive to the game.

Latest .. This is not an exact science . At this time last night , Stub Hub had apx 10,000 tickets
for sale .. Now , they have slightly over 5,000 ... My tickets that I am buying and selling on the
forty in 113 , lowers, behind bama bench were available at 2k each .. Now the lowest available are
$2995 ... Stub Hub Site , 12/27 2:11 am . No way these tickets are not going much higher .

This is interesting to me . A little like the stock market . Congrats to all of you smart enough to
bottom fish and get tickets before Christmas.

Exactly what happened last year in that one day there were a lot of tickets on stub hub then they dropped by a big chunk. Don't know if this is brokers manipulating the market because I know the stub hub tickets are mainly brokers selling on that site.

But this is what occurred last last year right around 1/1. Obviously this year it happened earlier.

It will be interesting to see how this develops. I wish I was going this year (made the last 2), but am happy I am not sitting there sweating it out like last year trying to find tickets.

  • Unless they did a refig the low rows are not that great. You can see the field but sideline players do get in the way.

  • Just an FYI John Michael Boswell has 2 tickets he's been trying to sell on FB for like 2 weeks if anyone needs them. Think he's asking 1200 each. He just posted again today.
