    Sorry man.

What say you and me meet in ttown next weekend? I have an extra ticket. We can meet for breakfast at the Farsider. Maybe swing by the Ray Perkins Museum. Grab a drink at the Hounds Booth. If the bball team is in town we can double dip and check out Gottfried Arena.

You know. Really make a day of it.

Your childish remarks in this thread are disappointing. There are some on this board who appreciate the original post.

I moved to Tuscaloosa from College Station at 5 when Coach Bryant hired my dad who received his PhD from Texas A&M to be the UA Director of Recreation (which at the time, 1970, was run by the athletic department). I know firsthand the affection that Texas A&M has toward Alabama due to the Coach Bryant connection and how much they respect our program.

The original post only attempts to share with those who appreciate that the mutual respect between the programs continues to this day.

There is no need to hijack the thread when you can simply ignore it.

CircleSeven - thank you sharing and please continue in the future.

  • I'll tell you guys this, and this is coming from an officer who spends 16-17hrs on the Quad every home game. The Aggies were easily the most respectful fanbase that we've dealt with this season. Probably three factors...them being new to the SEC, their military background, and the multiple connections b/w Bama and TAAMU. When we did our pre-shift muster/briefing, our Ass.t Chief made and interesting comment. As many of you may remember, TAAMU had a bomb threat a couple of weeks ago, which required them to evacuate their entire campus. They did so....many on foot. Their Asst. police chief traveled with the team. Our Asst. Chief asked their Asst. Chief how they managed to get an entire campus to evacuate, mostly by foot. He replied that to keep in mind, a majority of their student body are military based and engineering based, so the tend to have a healthy respect for authority. I definitely saw this in the Aggie fans this weekend. Yeah there were one or two...but if you get enough people in one location, there's bound to be a few. They were very respectful.

You guys have no clue some of the stuff that goes on with our fans as well as the opposing fans. We were very greatful for it.

The main problem with the aggies is that they were too damn nice. I was just waiting for some of them to mouth off in the bars and start a brawl. Every single one of them were just as shocked as Bama fans. They were just along for the ride. I couldn't imagine what Vols, Corndogs, or Barners would have been like in that situation.

The fact that you were waiting in a bar for one of them to mouth off and start a brawl calls into question your inference about their motive for being cordial, among other things.

Haha. I guess it does read that way. I would definitely be more of an observer in a bar fight instead of a participant. I'm too old and have too many responsibilities for the luxury of an immature, unbridled, testosterone filled outburst in a bar. Plus, I think even if you'd punched an Aggie they would have just bought you a beer. My original post was meant as a compliment.

Cool story, but likewise, if you don't appreciate my comments then don't read them. There's no need to hijack my response when you can simply ignore it.

I never intimated that we should be hostile to aTm in any way. I talked to a number of their fans throughout the day and we had a great time. I'm happy they enjoyed Tuscaloosa and I hope they continue to make the trip in the future. Had four Aggies sitting behind me and we joked throughout the game with each other in good fun.

That said, they're still an opponent and the love affair will expire after we play them a few times. I seriously doubt we'd have wanted to hear how much Auburn fans LOVED Tuscaloosa after 28-27. Or how much fun LSU fans had last year after 9-6. After 3-4 posts defending it, it gets a little old. We get it. They were treated well.

Roger that, sorry I misread you. I'm in the same boat with you- just got my septum straightened out from my youthful days of occasional fisticuffs, obviously not all that successful.

Yes, do tell. I would like to go there. Haha, I think everyone knows what the original poster meant though.

  • Hey Capstone, What I was doing was giving BAMA a compliment from my friend. Some you idiots on here really cannot relate to it. Good Grief. I have read some of the most ridiculous stuff on this board. A compliment is a compliment. If I want to post something on here I will. Simply put.

Calls fellow posters idiots, while typing up posts that read like the deranged ramblings of a downy Charlie Brown.
    Can't explain that.
