I find it so inspiring how you took a challenging situation and turned into something positive that you will always remember. Thats awesome and it speaks volumes about your true character. Roll Tide to you and ROLL TIDE to you dad.
Roll Tide brother. And props to you for keeping perspective. A lot of people in that situation as a kid end up bitter and resentful, but it's obvious you came to terms with it and made it work the best you could.
Thoughts and prayers to you, Earl.
Sorry for your loss and remember that no one is normal. We just all create an average. My Dad is strange in his own way that I wish he wasn't but it's what makes me who I am. My son doesn't like me right now except for Bama football where we bond very well. He's the teenager stereo type that thinks his parents are a burden. So, we all have issues I suppose but just remember the good parts and focus on that.
Sorry to hear that. Prayers going out.
the bible says we are to honor our father and mother. you have done that on this board. may God pour out his grace on you!
Choose not a life of limitation
earl.....im sorry for your loss. let me asure you of one thing. there is no such thing as normal, there's just life. and no we don't all start life from the same place or with the same advantages/disadvantages. my dad was "normal". sang in the choir, deacon, life of the party. but he normally beat the crap out of me and my older brother......not to mention my Mom. but at 13 and alone with him in the garage i stood him off with a broken broom handle. because of him i promised myself i would never have kids. couldnt take the chance i might be remotely like him. till i married a woman with 2 children. she turned out to be a drug addict/thief so i lost her but kept my kids. and oh what a blessing they have been. so you are doing exactly what you should. you take whats good out of the bad.......and you leave the rest behind. roll tide my brother and God bless you.
Sorry about you lose my friend. But, remember, he was your Biological Father. WIthout him you would not be here. I know it always hurts when we lose someone, but I am sure he will be watching BAMA from a totally different place. I am sure the view is great. God and Jesus loves us all. I am glad you realize some of that could have been from the illness. My prayers for you and your family.
Sorry Earl about your loss. You can always say at least your dad raised you right! Good man!
thanks for sharing, I'm sorry for your loss! Praying for you brother
