Well, here's a quote from the Executive Sports Editor of the Tuscaloosa News. He was asked why no media member had asked the question, and he gave a rather lengthy response. This was the quote I was looking for though:

I'm sure he's just an idiot, though. He just speaks to Coach Saban on an almost daily basis. I'm sure there's nothing to it. It'd be pure stupidity to intentionally kick the ball to the 10 yard line. Ya know... for those kickoff coverage angles.

BTW after rewatching the game you are probably right (did it work? no because Demps outran the both contains anyways) but the reason you caught so much flack is the way you presented it. I am going to refrain from going into detail but there is a general stereotype that you are asking for when you come on here and basically say that everyone else is stupid and you know what the coach is thinking because you played some football. I sit in front of a guy like that at every home game and he drives me bat crazy.

Look it's your "I know more about football than the rest of you" and the "I know the coaching staff" attitude that has gotten you the flack and downvotes. You are the one who got way too defensive. You played some football at a D2 or lower level.....guess what so has thousands of other kids thousands of other kids. I am sorry but that doesn't make you special. And I don't know what the staff has said on the topic but I have a hard time believing that Cade Foster is purposely kicking it to the 15 and especially after watching our kicker make 2 touchdown saving tackles last night,

Saban himself has addressed this issue. It is by design. He has said it during a press conference. Of course the design is for the 5 yd line, not the 10 or 15. If I can find it, I will post it.
You are insulting him. It seems no matter what his experience, you put it down, not sure why. If he said he was Houston D. Nutt, you would say, "well your team sucks right now."
Anyway...we all love Bama. We were not happy with kick coverage early in the game, and I'm sure the coaches weren't either. I would love to kick the ball out of the endzone. Our opps avg the 24 yd line, then the 20 would be 4 yds better, right? But noone can do that. This is Saban's strategy, like it or not. Just need to be more consistant about getting it to the 5yd line.
