  • Proposing widening the field by 35 feet to the size of the Canadian Football fields.

I don't understand the logic behind this.

NFL has considered widening the playing field 35 feet, and reportedly may revisit the idea | Shutdown Corner - Yahoo! Sports

From the blog Shutdown Corner: The NFL reportedly might consider widening the playing field to Canadian Football League standards, a drastic idea that would be one of the bigger rules changes the game has seen in a long time – if it comes to pass. … Continue reading →

They have already made it 2hand-touch on the QB.... this would only make the spread more "lethal"... I want to see these guys hit!

  • Never happen, they'd have to renovate all the stadiums.

Like all pro sports, every year the NFL looks at a variety of ways to change the game and what the impact would be. For example, hockey has considered using bigger goals.

That doesn't mean it's ever going to happen.

Hmmm...There are things in all of the sports that could be changed to make them more watchable and enjoyable. Here are mine.

NFL - Each team gets at least 1 possession in OT. The way it is now both have the opportunity at a possession unless the initial receiving team scores a TD on it's opening possession.

NCAACFB - 1.) A PLAYOFF OF AT LEAST 8 TEAMS!
2.) Move the starting point for OT possessions back to midfield so teams have to move the ball to at least get into FG range.

MLB - Shorten the # of games per season and finish the season in August. Maybe put MLB games at a premium by only having 4 or 5 game series Th.-Su.

NBA - 2 months of playoffs is really just too much. Maybe NOT let every team in the playoffs.

NHL / MLS - yep widen those goals.

don't forget lets raise the basketball goal in pro to 11 Feet. when you can reach up and dunk - without jumping, time to make some changes.
college should be 10.5 as well.

    cfb:

overtime - defending team kicks off from the endzone. or punt from the 10.

this way you involve all 3 facets of the game. and most possessions would start around the 50, which means you'd have to move the ball to get into fg range.

would reward teams for having a good return game and/or kicker/punter.

also, if the defense gets a turnover (and doesn't score), they can elect to take the ball at the end of that play, or have the opponent kickoff as mentioned above. that way, if you return a pick down to the 5 (or inside where you think you would return a k/p) then you can take it. but you aren't punished if you recover a fumble for 0 yards either.

Imo...I don't think they will ever do this in college. Esp. with then wanting ko's to be a lesser part of the game now days.

what? How many players can dunk without leaving their feet? And why does it matter anyway?
