NO TEAM IN THE COUNTRY COULD...

  • Go 5-0 against Mizzou, Tennessee, MSU, LSU and Teaxas A & M..... AND that was 5 Weeks in a row for us... sure wish we could have played Western Carolina before A&M....

  • I disagree. Missouri, UT, & MSU suck. I think Oregon & maybe K State could do it.

You think Oregon or KState could beat LSU on the road? I have a hard time believing that Oregon could control the LOS against LSU's front and Oregon stopping LSU from running the football.

    APBamaMan

  • OK...your opinion, but I still say NO... 4 of those are on road.....4!!!!!

  • Not saying it would be easy but just saying they would have a shot.

LSU isn't a "great" team this year. I believe Oregon has improved on the LOS & could out score LSU. I think K State would go toe to toe with LSU, they just have a team this year that makes plays. FWIW, I also believe that we could win it all given the chance, we just haven't executed the past two weeks.

Actually only 3 were on the road.

  • no excuses, but it was obvious we were tired from the start. dead legs. last week killed us with our defense on the field for the whole game. and it was LSU. no question that set A&M up for the kill.

I agree with that. But I also know that LSU is probably the only team in America that can match up with us physically. Even though LSU isn't a 'great' team this year, was it safe to say they wasn't a great team last year? And that team curbstomped Oregon on a neutral field.

    APBamaMan

  • It's definitely a tough stretch. Oregon and Kansas State would have trouble with LSU. However, I'm starting to think this may be Oregon's year. They are a horrible match up for nearly everyone due to their overall speed and tempo. Honestly, watching Texas A&M stroll down the field on Bama has helped take some of the sting off this loss.

Everyone wanted to see how Bama's D held up to Texas A&M (Oregon lite). I have very little doubt that Oregon would score at least 25-30 points on Bama. I don't have the same confidence that Bama could outscore the ducks. Just not what this offense is built to do.

Towson & Auburn played LSU tough. That didn't happen last year.

I disagree. If Bama hadn't had the turnovers, had capitalized on the scoring opps and won the game, this thread would be non existent - and you know it.

A bridge to be crossed only if we come to it...

I honestly have no idea of Stanford or Oregon State can play with the ducks. I do think USC has the talent to make it interesting in a rematch.

Well, I do think Oregon has the best chance of getting knocked off. USC put up ridiculous numbers against the ducks, but just not as many as they gave up. Like you say, a rematch would be interesting. If the football gods smile on us and Bama makes the title game, I would feel confident playing any team not named Oregon. Having 6 weeks or however long to prepare for them makes it easier. But, they are still a scary fast offense for a bigger, slower defense to have to chase around for 60 minutes. Bama wants to win games 27-10 not 45-38.

  • Well, Finebaum agrees with OP.
@finebaum: So 6 of top 10 in BCS are SEC. Yet, critics from Pac-12 blast away. Like to see Ducks play at LSU and then A&M.

I think USC will beat ND. ND does not have the firepower. Other than that I am just not sure. Texas obviously has the talent to beat Kansas State. Oregon has several challenges. Would love for Baylor to go ahead and knock out Kansas State this weekend.

If Baylor could upset KSU...man oh man. I almost forgot that USC still has to face ND. Looking at this from an optimistic point of view Bama still has a fighting chance to get into the title game. I can easily see ND losing to USC. It's definitely not out of the realm of possibility for OU to drop one with Stanford, OSU, and possibly USC left. I'm going to be a huge Baylor fan this weekend.
