Namath documentary to debut on Jan. 28

HBO Sports and NFL Films will explore the fascinating life and career of one of pro football’s biggest stars in a documentary on New York Jets icon Joe Namath, it was announced today by Rick Bernstein, executive producer, HBO Sports. NAMATH debuts SATURDAY, JAN. 28 (8:00-9:30 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO.
Christopher Walsh covers Alabama football for BamaOnline, 247Sports, and is the author of 18 books.

I know Namath the icon is interesting and sells itself. However, the athlete Namath, especially pre-knee surgery, was one of the best to ever walk the planet IMO. I hope we see that side of him and not just the "I want to kiss you" version. The #1 finger raised before entering the tunnel is still the most iconic image in sports. Namath and Pistol Pete are among my all time favorite sports figures.
Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the sun. But Mama, that's where the fun is.
