Need help with Bama ideas for a 2 year old's bedroom.

  • I'm redoing my 2 year old's bedroom and needing some ideas. So far, I'm planning to do the walls grey and the trim white (just can't pull the trigger on crimson trim). I'm not sure what color his furniture will be yet. May go with cherry to get some red color in the room without going too blatant with it.

    So far, the decor I have is an elephant lamp, a Mark Ingram signed/personalized football, a framed pic of him with Ingram, a framed pic of him with Trent, his first Bama jersey (#3, signed by Trent), a framed pic of him with Marcell Dareus and an autographed copy of the 2009 SI CFB preview with Barron, Dareus, and Hightower, a framed Dre pic signed to him, a signed framed Josh Chapman "greatest ever" SI, a bunch of stuffed elephants of various sizes, and a miniature BDS replica.

    I'm wanting to add some items like Crimson Dreams or other stuff that is more "kid oriented" than what I've put together for him. That'll be cool later, but I'm looking for ideas for a 2 year old's room and I'm really coming up empty. Any help?

  • I once saw someone who had a bama themed room and they did crimson paint with white beadboard and chair rail on the bottom. It looked really good. Could do any combination of white, crimson, grey in paint/beadboard and I'm sure it would look good. Without the chair rail, the crimson would have been too much for the room. The beadboard looks good, especially in kids rooms.

    And you have some nice items to put in there...

  • Maybe a houndstooth area rug? Some Fatheads on the walls?

    A friend of mine had murals painted on the walls of her son's playroom. The bad part: They are aubs so on wall was JHS, another wall was painted to look like aub's locker room, with replicas of player's cubbies with her kid's name on it like he's a player.

    The good part: Make it BDS, and Bama locker room, and it would be an awesome room.

  • Our son's room is gray with a focal wall (one side) in crimson. The focal wall highlights the room great but it took 5 coats of paint. Trimmed in white with some really cool Bama curtains. Several items, and pics make up the decor.

    I haven't had a reason to try this yet but I've been told that if you want a red wall, to paint it black first and then paint it red instead of trying to paint red over white and it will take fewer coats. It's worth a shot. Can't take more coats.

    That room sounds pretty cool. As I've been doing some research, I've seen some rooms with red paneling below a chair rail with white sheet rock above it that look pretty good. Still, I think I'm going to add red somewhere other than the walls. I'm still in the early stages of planning this.

  • Houndstooth curtains/valance. You can find material in a lot of places. You can find Bama bedding also for any size bed.

  • Also there are many sizes of houndstooth area rugs. Just bought a 5 X 8 and a 2 X 8 runner for my adult daughter's Bama den.
    If you are near Oneonta, there is a fabric outlet that has multiple houndstooth print sizes.
