Need some Ammo for a Barner. Check out what he posted and give

  • me a good response. Don't know enough about it know why Bama would be against it. Here's his post. Made me want to throw up!!

I'm even more proud to be an Auburn Tiger because AU's vote for multi-year scholarships seems to me to show that Auburn is committed to the student's future and not just a game.

  • if any institution is for the student athlete's future then they should keep the incentive in place to keep hiiting the requirements laid before them each year. If the multi year scholarships go into effect then there is no incentive for the student athlete to strive to be better than the next athlete "cause he already got his" ... so in essence your auburn friend is for complacency

  • Auburn doesn't have to worry about hitting the 85 limit when they routinely have players getting kicked off for felonies.

  • The only people that would be in favor of a multi year scholarship are the uneducated ones. Academic scholarships are renewable IF you keep grades in line with their standards. Why would you give an athlete a guaranteed full ride for 4 years, when they are much less likely to excel in the classroom and have more off the field issues. It just doesn't make good sense.

yeah i dont know why this is so "morally gratifying" for barners. Its like an academic schollie...you dont keep it for 4 years, you have to maintain GPA performance...In football i have never heard of someones schollie not being renewed, unless it involved academic failure or misconduct. barner's will tout this because it is anti alabama, but in reality it is a smoke screen because we have the highest graduation rate behind stanford and Georgia Tech i think...but we dont care about academics only football, right?

  • Will not work. If you give them to Football players, then you have to give them to basketball players (men and women), then gymnastic team, baseball, softball, track, rowing, lacrosse, dart team, shuffleboard team, etc.....And the academics would definitely suffer. Just can't do it. If it would work, the nzaa would have done it long ago. Give them a couple of years when those on 4 yr schollies turn out not to be so good and they'll be against it, gauranteed.

Since AU doesn't have to commit to ever putting a kid on the field, it doesn't mean squat. Auburn can still tell the kid that if he ever wants to play a snap of college football, he has to transfer. Tell him that.

The slam dunk response is how many Bama players made the SEC Honor Roll this season. Bama had the most and set a SEC record. Auburn had less than half as many. Thus, our players were first in the classroom too. Fact.

  • curve ball is 4 year scholarships were done away with by the NCAA years ago. Too many football athletes were abusing the scholarship. Off the field trouble/academic failure and still having the Universities paying their full ride. It stuck teams with the long end of a 50k per athlete stick. Not to mention the fact it was abused to oversign b/c there was no cap on how many kids you signed a year.

  • my view is it is against ncca rules. athlete's can not recieve befits that normal students can't get. if academic scholy is one yr sports have to be one yr scholly;s

  • A multi-year scholarship can be revoked for the same reasons a single year scholarship is renewed. The NCAA did away with multi-year to prevent student-athletes from abusing the privilege and not being able to lose scholarship. The NCAA was threatened with law suit (their apparent ultimate fear) for revocations, and moved to eliminate the extneded scholarship. So the multi-years will have so many specific breach clauses they will be meaningless and an administrative/legal nightmare.
