Not believing Kobe was concussed.

  • Concussion really? What made me LOL was Andrew Bynum's comments about the foul. "We in a all star game man, there aint room for that kinda foul man". Really Andrew? Its your first All Star game you big OAF! I thought it was funny a first timer tries to school
Wade the veteran 8 time all star. Nothing was intentional to harm anyone, that much was obvious.

  • I don't know...the way his nose was bleeding, I believe it. And what Wade did was stupid and kudos to Bynum for taking up for his teammate imo. Guy's the best scorer on my team and maybe in franchise history and he gets hurt on a stupid "wrap up" foul in an All-Star game? I'd rip Wade too. NO ONE plays defense in the game and guy's literally move out of the way to let PG's dunk. Wade was beat and should have let the play go or just went for the block. It was a stupid play by Wade and kudos to Bynum for saying so.

  • It was a hard foul that happens all the time. Just in this case Kobe somehow got hurt. Who cares if it was an all star game. Bet Kobe has never hard fouled anyone? As far as Bynum goes, they play again so he needs to make his point on the court cause whining about it...... Well it isn't going to make wade or anyone else in the league have any sympathy for Kobe.

Just because most dont play defense in that game, doesnt mean that you cant. There was about a 3 minute run the East had crawling back into the game and it was when the East lineup had decided to go full defense for a few minutes (if you noticed). There is nothing wrong with the foul. You CANNOT fault a guy for being competitive. It was accidental that his nose got slightly factured (not sure about being concussed though). Bynum was taking up for his player, I get that but he acted like he knew about whats supposed to happen in an all star game when it was his first appearance. I see defense in this game every year, but it always comes in certain times and its not been a priority for 4 qtrs, thats for sure. Ive played sports my whole life and would NEVER fault anyone for being competitive. Is it any coincidence the only players questioning the play were Lakers? And even some of those didn't have a problem with it.

  • But it wasn't a "competitive foul". A competitive foul would have been after he got beat elevating with Kobe to contesting the shot....not bear hugging him as he was about to explode off the floor...he's lucky he didn't hurt him worse. It was a stupid cheap foul and you won't convince me otherwise. That's not a real game, there's nothing riding on it but pride. Wade definitely wasn't in one of those spurts of defense on this play. If that was his best defense then it was embarassing because Kobe left him in his dust. Rule #1 in the NBA all star game....if you're behind the play, unless you're going to contest the shot, leave it alone.

I like how an NBA player participating in the AllStar game doesn't know how players are supposed to act in the game, and yet you do?

  • 3 pt game, 2mins left in the 4th quarter and Russell Westbrook cuts to the basket. A PG cuts to the basket and an All World center(Dwight Howard) and the best all around ath in the game(LeBron) are under the basket. LeBron tries to "swat" at the ball and Dwight just watches....BECAUSE IT'S AN ALL STAR GAME.

  • Unnecessary Foul for an All-Star Game.

In terms of the "alleged" concusision, the NBA now has an NFL-like rule pertaining to concussion testing. Kobe's initial test revealed a concussion I have no reason not to believe it. Kobe has played through more injuries than anyone that I can recall in recent memory in the NBA. However, with the aforementioned concussion rule, if he can't pass the battery of tests that will administered today then he can't play.

IMO that foul was BS by Wade and the Lakers should make him pay in their upcoming match-up.

Jabrill Peppers...More I watch, the more I'm convinced he is the best player in the 2014 class. Barring injury, he will do special things.

I don't think the op was saying he knew any better. Sounded to me like he was going from the fact that none of the other players really had a problem with it and most of them had been there before several times while bynum, the rookie, had an issue with it. Let's not kid ourselves here anyone on the lakers would have taken issue whereas any other player in the league could care less If kobe is fouled hard.

Btw, that stuff happens everyday and 99% of the time nobody gets hurt.

Exactly. There was much more to that Wade foul. I hope Kobe beats his a** for that crap. I've "never" seen anything like that in over 30 All-Star games I've watched. Not a coincidence it was Wade on Kobe.

  • Come on, really! Honestly if there was no broken nose this foul wouldn't have been an issue. Crap happens.

I saw it when it happened, before the nose ever started bleeding, and I told my buddies that it was a crap foul. Mostly because I wanted to see Kobe finish the play or Wade contest it and he just wrapped him up. My first thought was he could've hurt his legs or pulled something trying to jump off the floor while Wade was grabbing him.

  • I think that is part of the problem. Make it like MLB. The winner of the game gets home court advantage during the finals. That would change the whole meaning to the game. Then the foul would have been very warranted.

Can't say I agree. Not a huge fan of that in MLB, but nba is diff maybe it would be more palatable there.

Okay boys I have to go to work. It's been fun, maybe we can "play" when I get home.

  • It was a bs foul, but it has to be hard to cut the switch on and off. These guys play great defense night in and night out, but then at the All-Star game, they put out NBA JAM worthy defense. I mean, Kevin Love dunked on Dwight Howard for goodness sake. So, I'm sure that in the heat of the moment, when you have 2 elite players squaring off 1 on 1, you could just forget about the moment and go into lock down mode. I don't ever remember Jordan just letting someone drive around him in an All Star game, and I distinctly remember a time or 2 when he put some heavy D on Magic(and the crowd loved it). It was a bs foul, but not malicious at all, and Kobe just kind of got caught the right way.

My problem is that it was an exhibition game. I have no problem with the foul if it were a game and certainly no problem if in the playoffs. I am a huge Lakers fan and going to the Lakers-Grizzlies game in a couple of weeks. I hope Kobe is back before then.
