OC candidates hot board

  • Lucky said...

It is not an article. It is a list of candidates that will be added to and narrowed down from as the process continues.

For the record ... told by someone that would know that if Shula asked for an interview he would get one. That makes him a candidate.

This hot board didn't proclaim a new OC, it just started the process of listing the candidates. There was a reason for every name on the list. This wasn't just made up.

Propst is being mentioned only for the QB coach position. His name is making the rounds because he desperately wants to get into the college ranks. Don't think its a possibilty at UA but I wouldn't be shocked if he isn't a QB coach somewhere in the SEC or ACC pretty soon. Also there is the opinion he would be one hell of a recruiter.

Not sure how well he could recruit Alabama. Way too much baggage. Yes, he has cleaned up his life...but the min he steps on the recruiting trail in this state he would get hammered. Changing grades, multiple affairs, "secret family", etc. Burned way too many bridges in Mobile and in Birmingham. I think Colquitt High suits him just fine.

I agree UA isn't a viable option for him. He might be best served to look elsewhere. He would get killed in this state recruiting. I think he could kill it in a state like FL...where he has the name but doesn't have the baggage.

  • More evidence in this thread that Mike Shula is the most polarizing, divisive figure in the modern era of Bama football.

Although I personally can't fathom a plausible scenario that sees Shula ever returning to Tuscaloosa, I can't believe some of you'll are launching a mini-crusade against the staff about the inclusion of his name. If you don't think it's conceivable that Shula ever returns--just as I do--then just dismiss the issue. No need to attribute all sorts of diabolical motives to Lucky et al.

No need to ignorantly defame the character of the staff when you *don't know* who their sources are. If you have your suspicions, fine, whatever. But they're unfounded suspicions and you need to be careful making accusations like that when they're only based on your imagination. Go fight your crusade somewhere else.

  • Bobo? Plenty of Georgia fans would give him away. Some on this list are headscratchers for sure. I think it will be Groh or someone completely unexpected.

Can we track the UA jet again like we did when we hired Saban? I know an assistant coaching change won't be near as dramatic as the Saban hire but it would not be a legit coaching change without at least a couple of plane updates.

Man do I remember the night we all saw that plane going to Washington. There was some major gnashing going on that night. Thank goodness things change.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion...but you'd seriously have Rush Propst and Mike Shula ahead of a guy who was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers?

(Assuming all of these guys are equally legitimate and have the same interest levels.)

    1) I don't see it getting that far down this list... I think Groh is the guy to run SABAN's offense
    2) I don't think Sherman has the energy or desire to work under a guy like Saban at this point in his career!

You could be right about Sherman's work ethic and desire. He's accomplished a lot more than some of those younger guys and may just not care anymore.
