I really don't think Sims was ever going to start for us. I wish him well.

  • Actually, I can see AJ having a tremendous season and being one of the top 3 or 4 QBs in the draft next year.

It's not a definite, but if that does happen it would have been nice to have PS taking over for two years.

I would still be calling Max Browne to at least get him down for a visit no matter that he is committed to Southern Cal. Kiffin would do the same, if he committed to someone else. Anyway, I would love to get this kid & stick it to Lane. toot

Possible, but, from what I am hearing, he would have to be rated at the very top to give up his senior year. He's almost certainly going to stay the full five, which would leave Sims in a battle with at least two other upperclassmen and who knows who else just for a chance to start for one year.

I do believe Sims is ideal for the backup role, but can't blame him for going where he'll get a better opportunity to play; I just don't understand why he waited through Spring.

  • I love AJ... There is Barkley, and Landry Jones right off the top, after that not sure who is left. Murray maybe but I can't think of too many others.

I don't think AJ should go yet after next year.

I've watched all the film on QB's and the only one that really jumps out at you is Max Browne. He looks the part and I think he is head and shoulders above last years and this years class.

Weak year for QB's. Out of all Bama's remaining QB offers, only Bateman has an NFL arm. Watch that Hail Mary on his film, from his fifteen to the opponent's 27 rolling to his right. Not really sure on Bateman's accuracy as he is throwing to some wide open smurfs in a spread. However, he's a solid #2.

Tribby is intriguing but I like him more as a WR or athlete. Not sure how Bama would use him, very similar to the Blake Sims. He has QB size but just looks more like an athlete playing QB.

I wonder how long Bama will keep pursuing Brice Ramsey. He shows some potential.

So far the rest of the targets like Ferguson look like "get it done" type of guys. It would probably take intangibles between the ears to become legitimate NFL prospects.

Normally, I'm not a stargazer regarding QB's, but with P.Sims transferring I understand a lot of the posters concerns.

  • I trust the camp process and the evaluation skills of the Bama staff. The right guy will sign in February regardless of his star ranking. The QB position is one where we've seen a lot of 3-4 star guys outshine the 5 stars recently on a national level. Alabama has a staff that does a great job of signing the right guys at every position.

I really like James Franklin at Mizzou.

  • I think QB recruiting is all about timing. With PS leaving, it is the perfect time for a hotshot to sign and take a RS year, play backup for one year and then take over just like McCarron did.

I agree. I think the star gazers will be happy with our guy this year. Its a damn shame that J.Winston didnt come through for Bama. You win some you lose some. And when youre Nick Saban you win a hell of a lot more than you lose .

So are you saying that Saban wanted Morris more than Keil and Winston?

I agree. But Bama still needs a top QB prospect now.

AJ will have to come back for his senior season to be in the top 3 or 4 for qb's in the draft. He will not get the production to inspire the hype some of the other qb's will. However, with two years of coaching and improvement combined with the production that most people foresee, he will have the intangibles and maturity with the Saban track record to be our most significant qb prospect since Richard Todd.
