OT: At least 27 dead in Connecticut school shooting

  • Crimson Granite said...

The people that commit mass murder will always obtain guns no matter what laws are passed. Do you think this guy cared about a gun law?

Please don't. Both of you. Now isn't the time.

The sad thing is that this guy probably got this idea from the shootings in Colorado. Unfortunitly, some messed up dude is sitting at home right now watching this coverage and thinking about doing the same thing. I have never been a guy that wants more gun controll. But this crap sure makes me wonder if something needs to be done. I mean how big of mass shooting will it take before something is done. Do 27 people have to die, maybe 57, or is the number an even 100 before we make it more difficult for these nut jobs to get their hands on guns. I know they will get them either way, but something has to be done. I just don't know what. Sad Sad Day!!!!!

I'm a huge, HUGE supporter of the 2nd Amendment and I now agree in principle to finding a way to restrict firearm access (for certain groups, at least). But, these "nut jobs" will find a way to carry out their demonic plans regardless. The largest school massacre in US history was in 1927 at the hands of a former board member using explosives.

Also, at what point (assuming the "gamer" stereotype plays out) are we going to realize that super realistic (except for the actual death), kill-everything-in-sight likely aren't good for people with any form of mental instability?

But, like the above poster said - now is not the time.

We pay a very heavy price for our near religious belief in the right to bear arms. I'm sure many will pounce on me for even questioning the cost/benefit of this right, but to suggest that it doesn't come at a high cost in blood is being naive at best and intellectually dishonest at worst.

  • Very somber mood to say the least here in CT today. Went and picked up my 16 year old today from school this morning after hearing the news. Can't imagine being a parent and getting a phone call such as those today.

I'm not saying gun laws need to be passed, I'm just saying something needs to be done. Maybe I'm just pissed off and searching for an excuse to why this would happen.

  • Walsh,

What do you think of these jabroni reporters interviewing children?

They need to leave the damn kids alone. I know i'm not Walsh and excuse me for answering but that is heartless and plain dumb. Go interview a damned adult.

Seems uncalled for but the parents and school officials/ teachers could and should put an end to it.

I agree that the availability of guns in the hands of idiots is a big problem, but how do you start now? There are nearly 300,000,000 guns in the hands of Americans. Restricting purchases of new guns isn't going to make the 300 million disappear. And this kid had an assault rifle (high capacity magazines likely) and 2 hand guns (likely with hollow points).... all of that is illegal in NJ (hollow points and magazines over 15 rounds). So the law wasn't enough to stop him and won't be enough to stop any criminals. The law only stops law abiding citizens.

Seriously bro. That's the most maddening part of the fallout. Leave the kids out of it. They will have to deal with enough from here on out.

You dont. That is what makes this such a big problem.

  • Latest report says that the gunman goes to the school..enters principal office first and starts shooting..then goes to his mothers classroom and shoots his mother and all kids in the classroom. Over 100 shots fired in that room.
Another relative found dead offsite somewhere. Gunmans brother was near the school and picked up for questioning..

Just awful that someone could do this..I hope this guy rots in hell.

Just don't want to believe that there are people capable of such a horrific act.

Take a look at human history then. Nothing shocks me.

This. This is absolutely awful, but it doesn't make the top 10000 bad things people have done to other people.

I think they should be fired and blackballed from ever working in the industry again.

Slight change on my answer - the people who made them do the interviews should be fired and blackballed.

  • Foxnews.com says the guys name is Adam Lanza. CNN says Ryan Lanza and showing a guys pic that says it isn't him. This is why I avoid the news. Most of these people suck at reporting news these days and only care about spewing their biased opinions. Everybody pray for the families.

  • Strength, comfort and peace for all effected. How in the world could someone do this. It's bad enough that some coward has to take innocent lives but when it involves children, it makes it worse IMO.
